I Heard These Ws6 Are Underrated In Hp.

The Ws6 I Know For Sure Would Win.

If I remember right out of the box the TA was in the high 12's or low 13's. It was a great car if you could get past the looks.

I know a Lighning will spank the crap out of them. But.... I can't say about an 05-07 GT.
We can bench race all day long.

My ex-GF had a 2002 Z28.... I used to wlak all over that thing first through 3rd in my '98 GT... all I had on it was a K&N, no mufflers and 3.73s. I know at the fly wheel, I couldn't have had more than 235hp. But... once she got towards the top of 3rd gear... I would watch her go by.

310/340 Camaro vs 225/290 Mustang... Sorry buddy but the gf just couldn't drive. I'm a Mustang fan but the Z28 is faster in a straight line.

you actually think a 1998 GT can even get close to a 2002 Z28?

thats called really really really bad driving by your gf.

A 1998 GT is a 15 sec car and a 2002 Z is a mid 13 sec car.

A very stock looking LS1 Z28 blew by me at the track. Those LS1's are really strong motors

She could drive it, guys... I was just sayin' that I beat her out of the hole every time. Even when I would drive her car, I couldn't get that thing off the line as fast as I could get mine moving. I never said I ever beat her to the end of a quater mile... nor did I say I was in stock running gear... I had 3.73s that made a world of difference. I had the same result with '98 Cobras.... kill 'em off the line, and wind up suckin' hind tit as I was headin' for the top of 3rd gear.

I had a new stock '01 SVT Lightning, now i have a stock '05 Stang GT. Stock to stock i think the Stang is faster (but not by much). But.. the Lightning would do a hole job on the Mustang.. can you say 450 lbs of tq.

The LS1 engines in the camaros and firebirds are underrated, so I would think the WS6 would probably win.

Get some mods.

THE MUSTANG IS FASTER! Let me explain. I owned a 2001 WS6/LSS(means essentially ram-air with better shocks). Although "this" makes my 4th Mustang, the Trans Am was my first love. Remember Smokey and the Bandit? The 6 speed 5.7(346 CI), 325 hp & 350 lbs tq, was/is an awesome engine. Hated that car telling me to shift though.... The Mustang is faster from 0-60. If I remember correctly, it was offically clocked at 5.2 seconds. The Mustang claims 4.9, hence, FASTER. More people identify more with the 0-60 comparison than the 1/4 mile. Sure, 1/4 mile the T/A is faster- BUT, 346-281=65 CIs(+25 hps & +30 lbs tq). An extra 65 CIs should give you something. Isn't that the size of a Honda engine or something...lol. Not sure about the power to weight ratio either. The T/A looked/s heavier, but I think it was/is lighter than the Stang. Finally, I think it cost about $33,000 back then; $6,000 more than my well equiped 07. I know, getting off the subject. It may look faster but itssssssss not.

I owned a 2001 WS6. My mods were a Borla catback, an Airlid, H&R sport springs, and BMR sway bars and endlinks. You can debate whose faster 0-60, but in 1/8 or 1/4 mile it would finish ahead of a mustang, i never had any doubts about that. My 07 mustang with its current mods doesn't have the same power of my WS6, but it has been much more fun to drive. Does that make any sense?

im not sure what point you are trying to make with your rambling...but the fastest anyone has clocked in the new GT stang is a 5.2sec.. which would tie the T/A

But a T/A has more power and weighs about the same.

it would be a drivers race.

R&T posted after a good break in period, an 05 stick gt went 4.9 to 60
when MT did their test of the automatic GT, they got 5.1 secs

Well, Mr. Knight-RIDER, wait-a-minute, that was a show about a TRANS AM. That explains it... Well Kitt, I mean Chris, I usually don't drive around with a stop watch, so I can not be certain of the 0-60 time. I can only report that I've owned both and the Mustang feels a little quicker to 60. If you do some research on my claim, I'm sure that there's a library somewhere up there in Chicagoland maintaining a R&T(April 2005) with this information. I'll tell you what Kipp, I mean Chris, better yet, go to any Ford dealership and pick up a copy of the 2007 Mustang brochure and look at page 4, quote, "...0-60 in 4.9 seconds." I'm not sure what point you are trying to make with your rambling... but I think that I made mine... The Mustang is faster from 0-60. Pretty simple point- base on a reputable resource and my own personal experience. To be honest, I could care less. Remember Kitt, I mean Chris, I didn't start this tread.

more rambling...the point is a WS6 is faster then a stock 05+ GT. so someone did a 4.9 i didn't see that but there have not been any stock Mustang GTs that have gone 13 flat in the 1/4 mile.

and im not saying he can't win it would be a drivers race...but equal drivers the T/A will win.
