It took over a year, but I've had my first official serious challenge/conflict with the '05. I was on my way to pick up my daughter from the mall. As I was cruising through a single lane 25mph area surrounded by farmland, something buzzed up on my back end out of nowhere. At that point, I could see driving lights and knew this wasn't an accident. "CLICK" goes the traction control. At the stop sign, when the coast was clear, I Steve McQueened it out of there with a power slide onto the 4 laner where I was on my way toward the mall. After I calmed down from that, out of nowhere, I see the target coming down HEAVY behind me. I downshifted from 4th to 3rd at that point just as he was right about at my rear quarter in the other lane. He was coming so quick that he got by me, it's a C32 AMG Mercedes. I immediately got behind him and could tell IT WAS ON. Let me say that this car is NO JOKE. The AMG has some serious *********. We basically did a bunch of back and forth on the next 2 laner, but couldn't let em lose because of traffic. Once onto the next 4 laner, he took off real well and I nailed it through 1st and 2nd. I stayed with him quite well and I don't believe he expected that at all.

Unfortunately, he stopped at the next light to make a left into a residential area so the fun was over. I left him a 30ft patch of tire when the light turned green just to let him know I had fun.

I don't know the horsepower rating on the C32 AMG but I'm going to look it up. The car was serious, went like heck and had 4 doors.

Sometimes you just gotta hate the Germans!!

This is just the appetizer for the eventual five course dinner.

I think there should be a racing section too. I love hearing the stories as well. And most street racing ends up harmless. I am not saying it is good but it is fun.

I agree. If I do race, personally. It's 0-60 (at most) when conditions are 'good'. I would personally never race highspeeed on a highway. But, people are going to do it, no matter what. So, might as well hear their stories. And those AMG's aren't anything to mess with either.

I'd rather see a street race on an empty highway at 120 MPH rather than these supposedly "safe" 0-60 spurts in a residential area. We'll see how safe those spurts are when you run over some kid. Empty highway street racing definitely safer, although I prefer to take it to the track most of the time. B)
