2004 e46 M3, 6spd i think (he chirped 2nd and 3rd)


it was midnight and i was leaving tgi fridays with a couple friends when i saw him haulin hiney outa the parkin lot. i followed, driftin behind him on a u turn, and we stopped at the light next to each other.

we gunned it from a stop, and i had bout a car and a half on him by 70...what a rush!

o ya, i also had more than 500lbs of passengers (1 big guy, one medium guy), completely full tank, spare in the car, and i granny-shifted the 1-2 to not chirp too much.

he was PO'd, and it felt great for me cuz he had his girl in the car and its fun to embarass guys in 55k$ cars in front of their gf's haha

Stang is a good run for the M3...but I'm sure your 4.10s sealed the deal.

Yeah, from a start I wouldn't be so scared, especially with your mods. But I doubt the mustang would be a serious contender dippin on the highway. Not that I would condone that or anything.

I usually don't like street kill stories...but I have admit, I'm starting the dig the Stang ones... Nice! I didn't think Stangs stood up to M3's...glad to know it can be done!

eh, i was only at like 4500-4700 rpm in 5th, plenty of room to keep goin...and trust me it was still pullin...i just ran out of straight road haha.


and yes, those mods (4.10s, steeda pullies, jlt, and dyno tune) are worth every penny of the 1400 they cost me ;-)

Nice kill. Doing some quick math, 155 mph should be 5500-5600 rpm with stock tires and 4.10s.

I know you have to reflash to correct the speedo with a rear gear swap. Does the same apply to the tach?

Your tach should not change.

A rear end swap does not change how fast the engine spins....

My brain might be making things up, but I remember reading somewhere that its really bad to put pullies on an 05. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks.

On a 2005 Mustang GT, the crankshaft pulley you replace is also the engine's harmonic damper. Harmonics and torsional vibrations in the crank are mediated by this damper, and it has been very specifically designed with a certain mass and properties in order to best do its job.l

When you drop on an aftermarket pulley set, the damper is lighter, sometimes dramatically so. Other factors may differ as well such as the type and amount of elastomer between the hub and outer ring.

It's pretty much guaranteed an aftermarket balancer won't work as well as a factory one in this application, so it's up to you if you want to take the risk.

At least this isn't like the BMW guys who were tossing the balancer alltogether in order to fit a lightweight aluminum pulley.
