This poll is to see what the car of the future is. Are the harts of the V-8 Muscle cars gonna stick around or are we headed for modifying honda civics?

i voted ford, but i like alot of domestics. an import must have something REALLY special before i like it.

imports i have a thing for:
350Z/G35
RX-7
RX-8 (though not as much as the abouve)
old school Datsun Z cars
AMs in general

I'm with Arin on this one. For an import to be worthy it needs to have more than 90 lb-ft of torque (a la Honda Civic) and shouldnt sound like a lawnmower. So that eliminates the majority of ricers, and the ones that are left are ususally around double the price of comparable domestic iron. :worship: LONG LIVE THE V8!

So, technically, this would be worthy of respect?

[attachmentid=32897]

132lb/ft @ 4800rpm
And BTW, it was built in Smyrna, TN.
And even if it didn't match the performance of my V-8 pony car, it (unfortunately) used up more gas on the highway (which totally defeated the purpose of why I bought it in the first place)

I didnt mean the torque umber literally. I was making fun of Asian cars in general cause none of them have enough torque. Then again, theres never enough torque...

I voted for American Muscle, assuming by imports you mostly mean japanese economy boy racer cars.
I'm betting the results won't be accurate btw, just a guess

Generally, let it be know I am not a very biased (uptight) car enthusiast.

I think the future is full of Gm and Dodge products with alot of power but a poor exterior, and I also think that Fords products will keep looking nicer but with poor suspensions, the new mustang and the new super duties have soft suspensions. I saw a 05 GT that twisted a half shaft due to its spongey suspension and i saw 2 or 3 banks powered 05 F-350 powerstrokes that had the front ends bouncing like crazy because of the new coil design which is very spongey. Thats just my .02 cents, i could be wrong, my prediction was made by looking at what the latest creations are.

You saw a halfshaft twisted? Please explain, as I didnt realize it could be done in a straight axle. Especially due to the suspension. I've seen weird things like broken axles due to slicks and other things like that, but half shafts are inherent to IRS only.

Now wheel hop on an IRS system can break a half shaft fairly easy.

I have a picture, sitting at the store, lol, when i get my allowance i'll go and buy the pics and scan em on here for you guys to see, it was a 05 GT, it had the drive shaft sitting their in two pieces, both pieces had like a round joint on one end and it was all covered in greenish greese and the back half was twisted and wrinkled up like a pretzel.

There is a huge difference in Driveshaft, Halfshaft and Axle (out of a straight axle). Now, 05's do have a 2 piece driveshaft, which could be what you are referring to, I could see the confusion between it and a halfshaft, but as an FYI: Halfshafts are what goes from the rear differential in an IRS to the wheel hub.

I think we need those pics.

I can see the driveshaft twist from immense torque, but from a spongey suspension?
I can believe the pic you describe, but can you give us a bit more info on how the "spongey" suspension twisted it.

spongey as in soft, theirfore it creates wheelhop and because of the wheelhop and the launch all at once it twisted the end of the shaft right up, its at an angle and is all wrinkled up. Am i getting this right?
