New 03 SVT Vert or 05 Vert

I have an opportunity to get a New03 SVT Cobra Vert(yes its still on the dealer lot, brand new) or I can order(and wait 3-6months) and get an 05 Mustang GT Vert. Can y'all help me with some pros and cons. I know the interior on the 05 is sweet and the Stereo is a little better(460 mach? or 500 shaker). And the obvious power difference. Any and all input would be appreciated. Thanks

I think it pretty much comes down to exactly how much power you want.
Do you plan on modifying? If your're looking for a car that can easily be modified to 450 rwhp (~500+bhp), go with the Cobra. If the vehicle you're referring to is a true 2003 vehicle, you may run in to some "quality" issues, however. Some first and second run vehicles had an issue with ticking cylinder heads and spontaneous stalling on deceleration. Do a search at SVT Performance in the 03/04 Terminator section for more info about these issues. Also, if you're going to be doing alot of city/bumper-to-bumper driving, is having a manual okay?
On the flip side, with the 05 Mustang you get the benefit of a completely new chassis and completely re-engineering interior. That is, handling, road feel, and driver comfort have improved drastically. Also, its 300 bhp 4.6L isn't anything to scoff at, powerwise. Oh yeah, and it looks freakin awesome.
The best advice I could give is to try and arrange a drive of both vehicles. If the Cobra is an 03, the dealer will likely be very anxious to get it off the lot and would probably allow a test drive. When you drive each, take note of the how the car "fits" you. Note the seating and shifter position, clutch effort, etc. It may seem like fairly obvious stuff, but sometimes a particular "selling feature" in a car (i.e. power of the Cobra vs. looks of the 05) may temporarily numb you to things you don't like, but will notice down the road. Hope this helps, good luck with your purchase.

I've test driven the Cobra. It was great the fit and feel was just right. It did have some front end shimmy at freeway speeds. They said they would fix it. I haven't yet been able to drive a 05 GT yet. That is exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks very much. Any other opinions?

The design, in and out, goes to the '05, hands down.
The performance, handling, and all the upgrade goodies and factory mods,
go to the Cobra. The only mod that is clearly a must is an after market exhaust.
Try to get a test drive on the snake and on a '05 GT. That's the best way to
be able to determine what you really like.

I wrote my reasons for the 04 Cobra vs the 05 GT here:

How long has the 03 been sitting? My car was a Jan 04 car that sat on the lot for 10 months, but so far so good. It got moved around in the showroom pretty often.

Its build date is April 03. I love the color of your Cobra. I decided on the 05 GT Vert, already ordered. They have a Mystichrome 04 Saleen Cobra in their lobby. It is a one of a kind car. It is the most beautiful Mustang I've ever seen. I thought the handling on the 05 was very good. I did like the seats on the Cobra better though. Now that I've ordered the 05 I don't think about the Cobra nearly as much. lol

Good luck with it. It's a good decision either way. The GT is a great car at a great price. The Cobra isn't a new design, but can be purchased for a good price with rebates plus good deals.
It's a good time to be a Mustang driver either way.
BRING ON THE 2007 COBRA!!!!
Maybe I can buy one in late 2009.
PS....at the local car "gathering" the 2005 V6 stang got almost as much attention as the 04 Cobra Mystichrome, but that will probably die down as they become more common.

I have both cars....... my personal experience is the 05 is so much roomier and has plenty of power that I drive the 05 all the time. I drive the Cobra 1 or 2 times a week to keep it from feeling left out.

Sorry, I should have updated this. As you can see from my sig. I ordered the 05 Vert. Its the same dealer that had the Cobra. It was still sitting in their lot. I'm glad they took it out of the showroom or I would have had problems ordering the 05. I figuered if I got the Cobra I would regret it everytime I saw the new styling on the 05. But I wouldn't regret buying the 05 when I saw a Cobra. After I test drove the GT, it was easier to decide. The 05 GT really reminded me of an Infiniti G35 just faster.

Jeff, I think you made a good decision though I doubt you could go wrong either way.
I picked the 05 over the Cobra (which were heavily discounted at the time) as well.
I love the Cobra's power. Its awesome. But the 05 has so many other advantages I couldn't ignore apart from the obvious --> styling.
You'll be very happy with your decision.
As well, the Cobra build date of April 03 --> been sitting quite a while.

hmm that depends on what you want. do you wanta nice cruiser (either) a performer (terminator), or do you plan on it being an ivestment, the terminator is much more likely to bring major value in say....20 years maybe.
