need help and UNBIASED advice
I'm really not trying to upset anyone, it's just what I've always known. On the other hand, I was raised in a blue-blooded (Ford) family so I have seen Corvettes under a different light than most.
Go get a Porsche Boxster or BoxsterS (or a Cayman)...I have one now, had Vettes too...by far the best handling, responsive roadster ever ..just check out Motor Trend's roadster report in the June issue (the one with the 2011 Mustang report). It has 2 trunks so it is also practical.
Wow. This thread (or more appropriately the responses) = FAIL.
Bull, I'd go w/ the GT500. The reason why is that's what I'd be more proud to own. I couldn't care less about what other people think of me when I'm driving or getting out of the car, I want the car that I get the most enjoyment out of and F everyone else. Corvette's are very nice, but to me they lack personality. The GT500 is just nasty, regardless of performance differences. And 'nasty' sir, is a good thing.

The Corvettes are nice but are also more common, at least around my area. A GT500 has a fiercely menacing look to it that's lacking in the Vette IMO.

I don't think anyone is saying the Corvette sucks - just that it is a lot more common then a Shelby
I get that. Very direct and black & white. Some people are like that.
Due to the nature of forums/email it can rub some people the wrong way. I make allowance for it and for the most part appreciate your comments. (30 yrs of sales I've learned to deal with all types.)
Even though I don't have those same feathers.
(Although I prefer black & white. Doesn't leave much room for mis-interpretation like mealy mouths.)

One of my dad's good friends has owned all kinds of cars. He had an 01 S4, traded it for an 03 GT. Then he traded that for a C6 (auto, so his wife could drive it). She hated it. Hated the ride (had the Z51 pkg), hated getting in and out, etc. That was their last sport car. They traded the C6 for a new loaded Accord. Lol...gulp.
I didn't really have a point with that story, but the Corvette is such a different animal, it's hard to compare. I don't like the laying down position of the Vette. For my money, I think I'd get the GT500, but you cannot beat the Vette's performance/$ ratio...
