Bud, you're in the wrong place to ask for "UNBIASED" advice...

Judging by your avatar, Corvette.

Question for you: Must know what how you plan on using/driving this car before we can give any kind of opinion. Opinions, that's all they are folks.

Automagically 5/5/10 03:56 PM

There are so many factors that can taylor the advice given that your question may be a bit too ambiguous to answer.

It depends on a great many things. Ride Quality, Driving Dynamics, Automobile Utility, Where/How you are to drive the car, Is it a Commuter, a garage queen?
Also ask YOURSELF what you want out of the car. Practicality, Safety, Pu$$y Wagon, etc.

Answer these questions only to help yourself make the decision.

Some quick facts that most people consider on a daily driver:
How loud is the car?
Mustang fairly quiet, very much so for a performance car, even more for a 2011.
Corvette, very noisy.
How does it ride?
Mustang, firm but forgiving, almost BMW like.
Corvette, super firm, not forgiving, but turns on rails.
How easy to get in/out is it?
Mustang, just like any coupe, tight in smaller parking spots but comfortable position.
Corvette, very low slung, it's a SPORTS CAR.

I don't really know if I am making any point but I thought I would point out a few things you need to be asking yourself. Establish what kind of car you want or need given your use of said automobile and level of comfort. Then you will be answering your own questions.

Stop breaking my balls and gimme some TRUE real advice!

this car will probably see 10,000 mile a year IF that!

And that is toying around town for local erroads

Flagstang 5/5/10 04:11 PM

Go stang.

When you see a guy in a vett what do you think about the guy/car? When you see a guy in a stang what do you think about the guy/car?

Don't see any ball breaking here to an off the wall request for advice with no parameters in the original post.

For toying around and local errands, get a V6 Mustang, no point buying the big $$$ performance cars for just BS'ing around.

For a true performance buy for a true enthusiast, the decision is a personal emotional one that nobody else can make for you because we aren't you.

Buy the one that makes you feel good.

jedikd 5/5/10 04:24 PM

Corvette is horrible for errands, get a truck and a stang.

The LS motors are proven. The 5.0 is looking good so far but time will tell. Consider the seating capacity of each car. Insurance will likely be cheaper on the Vette. The C6 targa will make popping noises on hot days. If youre putting 10k miles annually, I'd say go for the Stang.

MattR 5/5/10 04:25 PM

I will give it a shot. I cross shopped both cars as well and have been a GM guy most my life, other than the 3 Mustangs my wife owned while we were married.

You will get more looks in the Shelby over a base Vette, now a ZO6 or ZR1 will get noticed by car guys but thats about it. If you care about that. You dont see the Shelby often at all, you will see a Base Vette Daily.

This is the question I asked myself before ordering a GT500.

How often will I be able to use a 2 seat car?

How often will I be able to use a 4 seat car?

I have a 3yr old and a 11month old.

A Vette will out handle a Shelby and with mods can be made very fast. Off the show room floor the Vette will pull the Shelby in a drag race as well, Corvettes almost dead hook,Vette will go almost 190mph.

Mustangs sounds WAY BETTER and has a huge aftermarked for performance mods and cosmetic mods.

Its really up to you, both cars are Fast, I just needed a back seat.

SOME shelby guys?

Chicks dig 'vettes.

Seems like an easy decision. :)
