My first kill!
OK, I am at the store. I pull in next to an 05 torch red V6 coupe. I look at it, and nod to the driver. In the store, he asks if I like it. I said "not bad" to which he replies "You're just jealous that you have an 04, not an 05" I then just say with a look on my face "yeah, thats it" and start to walk away. Anyways, I am at a light after, and he pulls up and starts revving next to me. I look over, and he points at me, then points down the road......then gives me the finger!!!!! So I just say "OK, lets go" Light changes, I let him start...then proceed to smoke him. He catches up at another light, drops the F Bomb, and wants to go again. I say OK....light changes...he goes....and I turn right.
My car is an 04 GT, auto. For another couple weeks hopefully........

It's funny, I get the guys in the 2004's and older stangs constantly trying to go at it. With the price of gass the way it is, I save all my kills for the many BMW's and other high end priced cars in my area. Pretty fun, especially when their girl is in the car with them. By the way, what the heck was he thinking.
04 gt auto coupe runs 15.1 in the quarter mile, how much slower is the vert?
ive raced an 01 gt auto thats stock except for tires/rims and K&N dropin filter, and i was still ahead at 75mph. So its definately not out of the question for an 05 v6 to race a pre05 gt auto. Not that the power is the same, but the 4 speed auto really hurts the GT.
From road and track testing the 04 gt auto at 15.1 and the 05 v6 auto at 15.3

Stop magazine racing...
THe 99-04 GT 5speeds can pull off a 13.8 with a good driver.
High 14s for a GT auto is more normal than 15s
They have 3.27s 4speed... They have more than enough engine to make short work of an 05 V6
Now if the V6 had some nice mods and gears....then it'll be more interesting...but stock for stock.....night night

apparently you only read what you wanted to in that post, ive raced an 01 gt auto which is the same as an 04, and beat him. how do i know what it has? its in my driveway next to my 05 v6.
EDIT: not to mention his was a vert, which is well over 100 lbs more.

An 04 GT should win in the quarter, but coming off the line it should be real close. Like Fazm said, the 05 autos are 5 speeds, and the 05 V6 manual trannies are 10 % deeper in first and second gear. That effectively gives 05 V6 manuals a 3.73 rearend. That advantage dries up in third gear and the GT should start to walk away. A V6 really needs a Traction-Lok to compete. Lack of traction is really holding it back.
Thats pretty much exactly right, after bout 60mph i notice that they start to gain on me, but we cut it at 75 (in a 55 zone, dont wanna get in too much trouble)
Im still ahead at 75, but the gap is smaller than at like 60
