Don't know if this is a re-post, but I kind of an interesting read, but the corvette vs Mustang. I thought they were in 2 different types of classes . Either way a good read, PM chose the Mustang hands-down and give the Corvette a way big two thumbs down :notnice: :notnice: !!! It was in this month's July issue. Not really much of an in-depth comparison, just a general short 2 pages read.

I skimmed through that article at the grocery store. It was a good write up but yes I agree, they are in two different brackets. The 'vette was about $55k as tested and the Mustang $27k. Big difference in price brackets.
C & D considers the Corvette more of a "performance" car and the Mustang a "muscle" car according to them when they gave out the top 10 awards.
Pretty sad for GM that the Mustang that cost just about half as much as the 'vette was chosen as the better vehicle.

Tell me about it, and people wonder why GMs' sales are suffering?? hehe I still love them only because of the american nameplate, I just wish they would make some competition in our same bracket. Competition is always is always good.

I've driven both the new Mustang and the new Vet. Both the MT and the at's. There is no comparison the Vet is a flat out better all around car in all areas, especially acceleration. Those guys at PM were smokin crack. :notnice:

I am sure that the average persons view (and that of many writers) is somewhat tainted due to having the cost factor in the back of their minds while reviewing the two.
Let's face it, the Mustang is obtainable by the average and the Vette is out of reach for most people.
On top of that, I actually like the looks of the Mustang more than the Corvette.

My Dad called me last night to tell me the Travel channel was having a show about the new Vette and Stang... I imagine it was a TV version of the same article...
Imagine... 5 Cinnemaxs, 7 HBOs, a partridge, peartree... but no Travel channel... bah!

I was stopped in a trafic jam on the Interstate right behind a red C-6 vert. A van filled with 20 somethings yells out, "That's an awesome ride!" The guy in the vert give the Then the kid shout back, "No, I was talking to the guy in the Mustang GT." I could see the dude in the Vette just sort of melt into his seat as I laughed my butt off.

I have to say I have a Mustang GT, but if I could afford one, I'd get a Vette. Performance being the main reason! But, when cost if factored in, I do think the Mustang is a great car, and obviously my choice.
Since GM is usually so far behind in the game, I wouldn't be surprised if the next re-style on the Vette tries a little more retro. They do have hints of old Vette's in their styling, but nothing like the Stang. And Mustangs do usually turn more heads/get noticed more, because they look like nothing else on the road (save for some old vintage Mustangs). The Vette is a great looking car, but it really is not that much different than the C5s. The fixed headlights would be about the only noticeable change for the average non-car person.

I debated ever since missing the '04 car show and picking up the Feb 04 Car & Driver (red C6 & S197 on the cover) on which to get  ... I took my Saturn takin' a dump on the way down to Kerbeck for me to give up on GM ...
And just when I was havin' second thoughts ... I drove by a local Chevy dealer and took a look @ a C6 -they're way too low to the ground to get up my driveway
