MUSTANG GT VS. NEW ECLIPSE GT AWD
With medium throws and easy clutch work, our six-speed Eclipse GT pulled a 6.8-second 0-60 and a 14.9 quarter-mile. Check out our recent sport coupe comparison test and you'll see the Eclipse is faster than the Mazda RX-8, but no match for the Nissan 350Z or Ford Mustang GT.
EDIT: Sorry if this came off rude lol.
I actually didnt even realize they were releasin the new eclipse for 06, i thought it was comin as an 07
Isn't there a section for threads like this?

But I'm sure a Mod will move it.
To answer your question, even if it was AWD, a stock Mustang GT would take a stock Eclipse GT anyday.

anyway, no its no match. and neither is a 350z to a 05 gt, although it is a slightly better matchup

As far as I know the new Eclipse is only FWD. The Mustang would destroy it. The Eclipse does look like a nice car though. I might have considered one if it was AWD.

Latest issue of Motor Trend has an '05 GT vert vs a 350z vert.
The GT just squeaked past the 350z in 0-60 and 1/4 mile.
But the 350z danced around the GT in slalom and skid pad tests.
Motor Trend picked the 350z as the 'better sports car'...but had the Mustang GT coming out on top overall because of it's 'character'.

As far as looks well the Mustang is way better hands down. 263 H.P. in the Eclipse and the last time I checked 300 H.P. beats that. The only thing it has going for it is that it is lighter then the GT.

, making it just as heavy as a Mustang GT.
I don't know how an all wheel drive car is better for drag race applications? There has to be a considerable loss of power in the drive train.
Also there is a dependability issue too like independent suspension rear ends.
By the way my brother has a 05 GT and he test drove the new Eclipse the other day and said that the car didn't have the pull like his Stang does. Not to mention the rumble of a V8.
Eclipse has 263 HP and 260 Torque V6
Mustang GT 300 HP and 320 Torque V8
Nissan 360Z 300 HP and 260 Torque V6
Fortunately The Mustang has everything style, HP, and Torque. So the Mustang GT wins no matter how you slice it.
