Locally 2 Mustangs were street racing last night when one lost control. The driver was killed instantly.

And that is another perfect example of why you should not street race. I don't understand why people are bragging about their "kills". Take it to a track for crying out loud.

What else can you expect from CA? Some people over there hate fast cars. They think we should all drive electric go-carts... yet they call themselves open-minded to lifestyles/hobbies/professions they don't understand. More like open-minded to lifestyles/hobbies/professions only THEY approve of.

Sounds like you're describing a typical Sierra Club or Center for Biological Diversity backer to me, WE AIN'T ALL MEMBERS of those associations "over here".

Heavily modded Ram 1500
RSX type S
I didn't even know the RSX wanted to race until he punched it at the light. I decided to drown out that 4 cyl. whine with some V-8 goodness. Shut it down at about 65 when I had about 7 car lengths of him. I know street racing is bad, but I tried to keep it close to the speed limit.

too bad for the driver ....I wonder what year the mustangs were...
never been to New York so I dont know the area - although it sounds like in the report an area people frequent, and racing in an area with other cars and people around is asking for trouble.

it`s a simple case of wrong place wrong time....i like to have fun in the street every once in a while but i know when it`s safe to or not...believe me they are going hang this kid.... i am not making a excuse that street racing is good to do...but i am sure many people agree that there is a time and a place..

Pulled away from a light yesterday with a 300C Hemi behind me. I'm going at about 70% throttle and I get about 3 car lengths ahead of him so he decides that he can probably take me, so he floors it and starts coming up on my really fast and move over in the other lane to pass me, I let him get about 1 car length behind me, then drop it back down a gear and floor it. Imagine his surprise as he realizes I've been sand bagging and stop his advance and start pulling away. Even though he had a good 20 mph advantage, buy the time we shut it down, I'm about 4 car lengths in front of him.
I guess it's no surpise we can beat a 300C, but the Hemi has 390 ft/lb torque, so I figured it was worth the gas and a post.
