any car will run if you maintain it.

But other cars will run even without mantaince... like my dads old corolla with over 200k miles.. he drove it for 5-6 years with a cracked engine block.

I haven't chimed in since my last post a long time ago, but in October a friend gave me a 1989 Escort wagon. 1.9L 5 speed. It's a beater but I only drove 140 miles in the last 6 weeks, so what do I care? 35mpg on the freeway, about 25 in town. I bought $5 of gas today for the first time since early December. I'll drive it until mid July when I'll sell it before I move to Europe.

This thread is so old I may have responded before. I voted for the 96GT. Reason. I drive a 96GT (original owner). I've had no major problems in 10 years.
