I saw this brand new burgandy red Dodge Charger R/T rolling out of the parking lot, so even though it was the wrong way home, I took a right to follow him up to the next light.
It couldn't have been more perfect. At the redlight, we're the only two cars around, nobody in front, nobody behind, and straight 4 lane divided higway for the next three miles with no intersections/signs/lights/traffic, nothing but straight highway. Both cars are clean. I just washed mine, and his is looking like it rolled of the showroom floor. Sunny day, a cool breeze, about 69F outside.
So the light turns red, and I roll about a front tire in front of him just to see if he's interested. Didn't get to the light in time to give him a couple of revs, and he's got limo tint so I can't see inside (good thing it wasn't a LEO). At about 1/2 throttle just to get through the intersection, then I see he's on it, so I floor it through the short remainder of first, and bark second, so it's on for sure. He hangs with me at the start of second gear, but then slowly and constantly falls back. By the time I get to third, I've got a good car and a half on him, but I want to make sure I get a good 2-3 shift, hoping the Hurst will do me right and no dreaded 2-3 lockout like the stock shifter did to me a few times. No need to worry, 2-3 goes off like a toggle switch, and I bark 'em again, and by the time I shut it down mid way through 3rd gear, he's a solid 3 going to 4 car lenths behind me. I go ahead and tap the brake lights 3 times, just to let him know I'm done.
He plays it cool, and doesn't try and blow past me. But pulls up along side as I let air drag slow me down. He rolls down his window, just enough to show me a Peace sign. I give him a thumbs up and a nod, and then I let him punch it out in front of me a couple of car lengths so I can hear the Hemi. It was really quite, too quite for a "Charger", that's for sure.
But hey, it's a 4 door. But it was fun, and the guy was cool about it. Just thought I'd share.
By the way, street racing is dangerous, take it to the track.

Nice story! Personally I don't mind the Charger's body. If they made it into a 2 -door like it supposed to be, it would be hawt! ![04](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/04.gif)
PS Why would 3rd gear lock you out? Never had that happen to me before...only a few botched shifts which I chalk up to my inability to shift:-P

But the Hurst shifter fixed it. I can't even miss a gear if I try to do a sloppy shift, it just goes right in. So maybe it wasn't all me, and partly the stock shifter. If nothing else, the Hurst has paid for itself in the 2-3 shift consistency.
And yes, the Charger would be much better as a two door. maybe a 2 door Challenger in the future?

That post is almost 3 months old, lots of mods added since then. I only had a generic tune and CAI at the time. I'm sure I could have done better from a dig, but we got on it from a roll after clearing the intersection.
I'll try to beat the next one more towards your satisfaction. :P

Whoops, haha I didn't even notice how old that post was. That's a nice kill from a roll then. I'm sure from a dig u would of BBQ'd him even worse. Looks like there'll be more competition coming our way in the next couple of years, plenty of mod time in between though.

Don't get me wrong the Challanger looks sweet, but right now it's just an idea and concept.

Alot can happen in 3-4 yrs. It's a little early to start talking when there's nothing physical to back it up.

Weighing 4100 lbs? Please buddy. Give me 2 grand, which combined with the price of my car will be less than the challenger with the 6.1L Hemi in it, and I will chew you up and spit you out. Happy hunting land yacht rider.
