Hi All,
I am here trying to seek help to let me decide on what will be smart decision for my next car. I confess that I am not a car guy.

Being said that, I have had a 2005 V6 Mustang manual for 2 years now and I absolutely loved it. I graduated from college a year back and now I am making enough money to buy a new car. I have not doubt that I will be buying a Mustang again, but I am little confused. My budget is between 35 to 40K and this is my list:
2013 Boss 302
2013 Roush Stage 3
2015 GT

Here are my priorities:
I am never taking my car to track. (Even if I do it wont be more than once)
It will be my daily driver
Irrespective of what I will be buying, I am selling in 2 years. So my major priority is I need car that depreciates least among this selection.

Depreciates less I would have to say the Boss. The rest is up to you.

thats a tough one. if you want all the creature comfords the GT is the way to go. If you want power and handling the Boss is the way to go. If you want lots of power than Roush is the way to go. I'm a Boss owner and from what I read in what you want in your first post. I would think the GT would suit you better. FYI the 2015 GT has 435hp and 400TQ. Alot of Boss parts are in the 2015 mustang motor.. Plus you will be buying NEW with a full warrenty. We all know the first and last years of a new production is the best at holding the valvue over many years. Question is....Do you like the new body style. If so, then I would say GT sold! other than Boss rest options will depreciate 30 - 45% in two year.

If you're worried about depreciation, I say none of the above.
You'll get hammered on a new car after just 2 years.
I think the Roush is kind of overpriced, basically just bolt-on parts. I wouldn't bother.
A 2013 Boss will be at the high end of your budget. If you daily drive a Boss, you're gong to get beat up some, too. When you're selling, people will want low miles or a cheap price.

Get a GT that has already depreciated, or find an old Terminator. You'll spend less money and get more of it back in the end.

Cars suck as investments and no one has any idea what will happen two years from now. Gas goes way down then all three will bring good money. Gas goes sky high and you won't be able to give any of them away with a $100 dollar bill taped to the top. That's just two possible variables.

Buy the one you LOVE. Then enjoy the heck out of it.

 

I'll side with boss man here...

I bought my Boss because I appreciated the heritage and engineering that went into it. I DO daily drive mine and it isn't any more hard to drive than another manual V8.

The Roush is really cool and gorgeous, but as said before, is basically well thought bolt-ons at a premium.

I'd definitely suggest a new 2015 GT or a used, 2013 GT with Track Pack, Recaros, and the whole nine yards.

If you're planning on selling it anyways in just two years, used may be the better option.

I am curious... why for sure sell in two years? Would you prefer leasing?

 

I'd take the Roush.

 

Get a GT ... mod it with Steeda suspension & performance parts & you can blow the other two (2) out of the water.

It will be more fun & cheaper than the other route.

Id go with the 2015 gt, since your not going to track the car and you want it to be a DD.

 

I wish I'd have ordered the 13 Boss instead of my 13 GT for resale alone. To me at the time I just couldn't justify the extra $$ for the type of driving I do. I'd go with the 15 GT over your other choices BUT I'm a new car guy. I usually buy something new every year. I think the 15 will be nicer in everyway over the old model. Scott

 

Was gonna say Boss because of forged rotating assembly(you will eventually beat on it) but then I remembered the 15 GT has forged connecting rods. Would go with GT

 

I'd wait a bit on the 2015 and let the early adopters iron out the bugs. If you've got money burning a hole in your wallet I'd go for the Boss and don't worry about depreciation unless it somehow figures into a future vehicle purchase.


My own view on the matter of collectability and depreciation is who gives a ****, especially if you plan on keeping it. Let your heirs worry about it as they pry your cold dead desiccated husk off the seat wheel and onto the floor.

 

The BOSS is legendary. go with it. You will never loose with that. In Florida where I am they are getting retail still for Bosses.

But depends on what you want in a car.

My Vote BOSS 302 all the way.

 

if you are in Florida look for a 2014 convertible! the dealers are trying to dump them. there are rebates. the end of the month they get really hungry. do your own research KBB, car guru & Edmunds. find all the options you want. always get the "out the door" price. don't take the extended warranty if you are only keeping it two years. The OP said he will be selling what ever he gets in 2 years. I think you should keep your 2005 v6. You've only had it 2 years. I would wait and buy a 2017 GT 350.

 

Save your money, keep the V6 and wait for the S550 to have all the new-model kinks worked out. Oh, and yes, buy the SVT model whenever it comes out. It will outdo all three of the options you listed and won't be as harsh on the road as the Boss.
