GT500 vs VXR500
I found this the other day and immediately though hmm. Now to be honest I expect the GT500 to get most of the votes on this forum, as it should being a Ford based forum, but I'd be interested in seeing what validations other than the "Ford Rules" approach. Now this is based solely on the cars alone as the Vauxhall is not only no longer made but was only a car offered in Europe. So if there are any Britians here they could do a head to head for us or you could go here, http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=47&i=15379. I usually like to make my own assesments and take most mags assesments with a grain of salt. But the actual infor on the Cars is a good reference point.
It should come to no surprise that from a general stock standpoint I'd favor the VXR500. I like the ride better in my own GTO so I'd imagine with the package (not offered here installed it could only be better. The interior also to me feels much more solid. But then again thats my opinion but one derrived from riding and driving both. Price wise it seems to also favor the VXR unless you ship it over heare but its probably just cheaper to order the parts.
Now modding, The VXR has an advantage of having already 6.0L displacement but the downfall is that it appears that it has a stock bottom end which will not take much more boost than what it is probably pushing right now. Now put the advantage of the GT500's forged bottom end and 800+hp is capable with just bolt-on's. The LS2's stock bottom end will no doubtedly fly apart at those levels. But for 2 stock vehicles I think its a great comparo.
Not that I'd turn down a ride in either
. Thats the Goat they shoulda brought here. I even like the styling better on the VXR 500 than the Goat as well. So gotta start this with one (if not the only one) for the VXR. Now lets hear it.

I dunno. To be blunt you always get a bit of home cooking from the Europeans on any comparison that involves one of their own and a 'foreign' job. In light if this I think the positives listed for the Mustang are cirtually a ringing endorsement.
That said I think the GT500 is far better looking and almost certainly easier to mod to ridiculous levels. The Monaro has a better, if slightly boring, interior (seats excepted...assuming these are roughly the same as those found in a GTO, and they likely are, I will have to disagree with the authors assessment and call the seats a toss up) and the Monaro is going to remain somewhat better settled than the GT500 over the rough stuff. Performance capability in every respect is likely extremely close given that this is largely a GTO with a blower and larger wheels.
I would personally take the GT500 based on the immensely better looks since IMO there is no other huge difference between the two outside of the GTO's better interior materials and the GT500's modability factor.
