woah now, heavier because of the engine? that would have flown back in the 5.0 days, but not now. the Mod motors are HEAVY! the new 3 valve is a good bit lighter, being all aluminum, but im almost certain its still a good bit heftier than an LS1. Love it or hate it, thats a well designed motor.

VC, I think you are F.O.S. You sound like a flamer who pretends to own car X, and then goes on the message board under the guise of being upset with the car he bought, and starts bashing it. You have named some off the wall problem in every post you have made and refused to acknowledge anyones responces. You sound like a troll.

not going to argue that point like i said im the first to admit im not a pro at racing and it could very well have been my fault it wasnt closer but it felt like i did everything right ,anyway i guess i forgot which forum i was on and a simple story about a race turned into this whole big deal about me bashing the mustangs which was never the case

i love my car and dont care that its not the fastest car at there its still fun to drive and looks amazing

At least your Mustang doesn't look like it uses Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon. Big, ugly hiney nostrils and what not.

ok went back and read the entire thread and cant seem to figure out how or where i was being an "a(hole)" but if you say so

as far as i know most of us adults on this thread were simply talking about the race and what heppend and the differences between the new gt's and the f body cars

and then you showed up with your childish remarks about me personally so i do believe your the one who is being an as you put it a(hole

i have a freind that is die hard chevy and he always talkes about how stock to stock the GT has never been faster or had more power then the z28 now im not sure if thats true but it sounds right to me and iw ish ford would have put about 360hp in the gt just once so it would blow the doors off the z28, and im not talking about cobra's or saleems's or roush stangs im just talkin stock gt that normal people could afford lol
Hey Mike.. tell your buddy to check back in the the 80s and very early 90s..... in used to beat Z28s in my '88 GT all the time... I had a POS auto and they couldn't hang ..... not until the '93 Z28 came out. Then it was no contest.... but yeah.. I wouldn't say "never."

Yeah, from at least 87 till 92 the 5.0 mustang owned the
Z28. However it's been all down hill since they switched
from the 305 to the 350. Not really sure about prior to
'87 but I would expect the '85 and '86 were faster than
the same year camaros as well.

You said you raced him from 50 to about 135, what gear
were you in when you took off, and at what point did you
shift?

I really don't think it would have made a difference
in the outcome, but maybe in how bad he beat you.

Also next time try to go from a dead stop, as quick as the
'05 mustang is from 0-60 I expect it would give you a better
chance at beating a Z-28, but I'm not really sure what they
were capable of from 0-60. I do know they were running
the same engine as the C-5, and at the time alot of people
thought they were actually faster than the vette, due to less
weight.

Don't get me wrong, I love the new mustang and I'm amaized
with what ford has done with the 4.6, but I'm not suprised
to hear that it wouldn't hang with the F-body, especially at those
speeds, you are dealing with a motor that is 25% larger,
and a car that is probably more aerodynamic.

You've already answered the question for yourself. To really get the most out of the car you have to be familar with how to launch and shift. With the cars involved both being stock it is a drivers race, just practice your launches and clean shifts and you should be fine, practice makes perfect.

And by the way, i wasn't really getting on your case about the rims, just stating that had they been on it would have been harder to get a good pull. since they weren't, just practice.

MM&FF ran a stock 05 through the 1/4 mile in like 13.395. And when the 03 cobra came out they got their hands on the last production year camaro SS and it bested a 13.3 something as well I think. So unless this guy had a WS6 trans am and knew how to drive like a champ (or he had mods) then it should have been a LOT closer. Something doesn't add up.

this thread has been off topic for too long

Just a fact: The 2005 Mustang is faster than both the '05 Z28 and '05 Trans Am's.

Please keep things civil
