Coyote vs Terminator
For several years now my plan has been to buy a 2014 Mustang GT. I was very close to doing just that (21014 with Track Pack) when I came across a 2004 Mystichrome Cobra Convertible bone stock with only 13000 miles on it. This car is making me second guess getting the 2014. I never really thought about getting a convertible but I do think vert look better on the older cars than the newer ones. I probably wouldn't drop the top much but would definitely have it down at shows so people could see the sweet color change interior. Either car would be driven only during the nicest weather as I have a second vehicle already. Probably about 6K-8K miles per year.
2014 pros-brand new, warranty, more bells and whistles on the GT Premium (Sync, cool lighting, track apps).
2004 Cobra pros-Mystichrome!, easy HP bump (though I probably wouldn't mod much if at all), unique, rare, resale in 5 years could be better than the 2014.
Anyway, I'm soliciting any and all thoughts on why I should buy one over the other.

Guess it depends on how much the 2004 cost, how much you like the SN95 models, and how much you intend to drive it.
If you are thinking of buying the 2004 as a daily driver with plans for some heavy driving, I would skip the 2004 a buy a 2014.
If you don't mind owning two used cars, depending on the cost of the 2004, you might be able to pick up the 2004 and a 2011/12 Mustang for the cost of a new 2014.
As for build quality, the 2014 is miles ahead of the 2004, along with better ABS, better airbags, Traction Control, Dynamic Stability control, better fuel mileage on average, better ergonomics, etc....
For me, if I could only have one, I would go straight to a new 2013/14, period.

Would only buy the '04 cobra vert as a collectable since it is a hard to find original with mystic paint, not a good candidate for a car you would put many miles on and definitely not one to mod, worth way more as is than modded.

I haven't seen it in person yet but I think they look good in pictures. The 2003/2004 Cobra's make 390hp/390tq. Stock v stock it's a drivers race. Then again, I probably wouldn't race the Cobra since I'd be looking at it as more of a collectible show car. Maybe a few stop light to stop light runs

Although I did run into a guy selling his 04 Cobra for an eye popping 35-37k, he was trying to recoup the money spent on the car. When he said I bought it for 27 and put 10k into it so 35-37k I just said good luck and walked off.
It was a really clean car and had a kenne bell sitting on top and a new long block but nothing really worth that much money.

And there is no place to go but up after that.

I was thinking (hoping) the same thing if I buy it. Its a tough decision. Plus, I could have the Cobra by the end of the week. Probably weeks to get the GT Track Pack I'd want...but, anything worth having is worth waiting for I guess.

I would get the Cobra. Its rare, perfect for how much you'll drive it (vert, fast, fun) and... its cheaper. put that other money you would have spent on the 2014 in an account some where and save it for when you're ready for something else.
oh, and don't mod the Cobra. It's value is in its rarity and its sanctity. Just like women

A Man Just Needs Some....
The Mystichrome cobra is no more rare than any other terminator. Actually the only truly collectible terminator is the comp orange vert. Drive both cars and decide from there. Bang for the buck, its hard to beat the terminator. What other car can you find that badass for $20-25k?

At the time they were pretty much the fastest of their common competition as the Camaro and Firebird were already dead, and at the time the GTO had the 350hp LS1 and a 10k dealership markup.

Yeah, it was a tough call for a while. It was all I could think about for days. Then I was pretty sure 2014 was the way to go I just felt a calm come over me. I think for me, right now, it's the right choice. I plan to have at least one more Mustang in my collection at some point.
Here you go. He said $25,500 was the lowest he'd go or else he'd hold on to it for Spring and expect to get more.
