Chevy helping Ford (us) out
Chevy helping Ford (us) out
So with the announcement of the 2014 Camaro refresh and Z/28 it got me thinking that this is a good thing. Ford IMO seems like they would have to be competitive as well.
That being said I think it is likely we will see the SVT offering at launch time.
Camaro vs Mustang
LT and V6
SS and GT
Z/28 and GT 350
ZL1 and SVT/GT500
From a sales and competitive stand point Ford can not stand by and not have something to battle the Z/28 and ZL1 with.
Thanks Chevy for making this interesting.

Thank you!Now when the GT350 comes out everyone will be saying wow "Ford really responded!", when in reality Ford is developing stuff far in advance of waiting for GM to release a model and then upping the ante
Well If Chevy and Dodge hadn't come up with the Camaro and Challenger in response to Ford doing so well we would not have the 5.0 maybe. Ford probably would have done the new S550 for MY2015 but we probably would have had to wait a MY or 2 before we got the GT350 and SVT variants.
That all I was saying.
That all I was saying.
If nothing else, it will keep a high hp v8 in the Mustang. I personally think we have them all to thank; Ford, Dodge and Chevy. The Pony Wars are back, and I for one think its awesome.
Chrysler announced plans for a B.A Challenger. They didnt say what it would be powered with, but it sounds like a detuned Viper motor might be in the works.
Gotta love it

Chevrolet can never help me or FMC out for that matter.
The Mustang is the 1 and only original Ponycar!
I agree with the OP, think about it after the F-body twins went out of production in 2002 Ford had a 7 year gap with no competition and it showed. The 2005-09 Mustang saw no real mechanical improvements over its life. In 2005 the GT made 300HP, the V6 215HP... In 2009 the numbers remained the same. Even the GT500 had no mechanical changes through 2007 to 2009. The only changes where a couple optional improvements (HIDS, Nav, heated seats etc)
If we look at the 2010 to 2014 cars we have seen tons of updates for all three models, I think the Camaro and Challenger have a lot to do with it. If not for the competition I doubt we would have even gotten the 2013 refresh.
