I had a great day at the track yesterday! Went against a SS (stock) w/auto, I have 08 GT with: auto, CAI, tune, Flowmaster, and yes the 4.10 gears. The guy wanted to run me right. I said you gotta be kidding. I'm under 300hp w/gears, he's over 400 hp. I said if I can beat you, you need to take that thing back to your Government Motors dealer.
Well, we ran twice. 1st run - me 13.5, SS 13.8. Second run, me 13.4, SS 14.0. I felt very satisfied, him not so much. He does have plenty of $$$ to throw at this stock SS so, I'm guessing this will not happen again.
I just wish there would have been an RT Challanger there to whoop on too.
So, bottom line for me is, it's official, the SS really sucks A**

Great kill, reminds me of the night a modded WRX kept wanting to run me. Every time he lost he removed something from his car (spare tire, passenger seat, rear seat,speaker box, etc.) and ran me again. By the end of the night it looked like he was having a garage sale. Although with AWD and 1.75 60 ft. times I had to catch him and pass him every time.

I don't know? I really think the car is crap! The guy I ran is a driver. He owns a Z-06 that's turbo'd and has been racing, (many Lightnings in past) for a long time. I've been to the track 3 times now.

 

I test drove an auto Camaro SS awhile back for shxxx and giggles and it was a dog for having that much hp.

Those auto SS camaro are really pathetic. Theyve got a serious weight problem and have one the worst looking interiors i have seen in a really long time. And either this guy didnt turn off overdrive if the cars got one or he did someting wrong, but then again it is a "slowmaro" i smoked a v6 2010 camaro makin 308 (if i remember right) back before i modded my 02 gt makin 260! He has somewhere round 280-285 tourqe but im at 302 i love mustangs!!!

I believe the A6 equipped SS cars are only 390hp, the M6 cars are 426hp. The A6 Camaros are equipped with GM's active fuel management system which for some reason precludes the use of a higher revs or a more aggressive cam (I think its the former though).

 

I love that it was an ss. Got used to seeing 6cyl. Getting ****y with their 5 extra hp and no torque and leave with their tail between their legs. Nice kill man. Never wear a bow tie in to battle.

 

Can't be driver error with an auto! My 8 year old son car flour a car and gold the wheel straight!! They just arnt fast!

 

Auto SS's are slow, 400hp 3800lbs, lazy OEM tune. and they have an issue recognizin what octane gas their drinking lol

Granted I made myself nervous but I've out run an SS on I-95 before. ***hole kept blocking my advancement to the left lane and wouldn't move for me and when the window opened I turned the overdrive off and flew. He tried the same, flooring it at least, and didn't have the same result. From 65-90 ish mph...in really windy conditions. Keep in mind, in a Crown Vic which has 239 horsepower at the crank.
