C6 corvetter what?
it was on highway 80 at 1am so not any other cars around. we hit it from 45, but he jumped it just a little. my 4.30s forced me to immediately shift (2nd only goes to 58) and gave me some traction issues at first, so 3sec into it i was already on his rear bumper. we kept going until maybe 125 as i let off as i shifted into 5th. at that point i was at the back of his door, meaning i was creeping on him the entire way after the first shift.
full tank of gas and spare was in, and i was granny shifting cuz i don wanna throw out my rear again by powershiftin too much, i guarantee it would be a good race at the track.
for 400hp/400tq (underrated i hear too), and 250lbs lighter than me, i was NOT impressed. it was cool to hear/see him light them the $%&# up goin into 3rd tho
disclaimer: i do not approve of racing on public roads

eh...need to know more about the other car. Could have been an auto, some d-bag that doesn't know how to drive, etc. Not doubting your skills, but the new vettes are fast.
Don't take offense, but how do you pull 322 rwhp out of a jlt cai and pullies?

With 4.30s, what kind of revs were you pulling at 125 in 5th? What is your top end?

Stkdidy, how you liking those 4.30's for street use? If you could do it again, would you have gone with 4.10's? I'm hoping (if time allows) to finally get my gears installed over the holidays and it's going to be a coin toss between 4.10's and 4.30's.
Im sure the gears are the only thing that gave you a chance against the Vette (no offense). The thing is after you top at 125 he would keep pullin right up to 185.
Theyre both amazing cars in their price bracket.

i let off at ~6500 in 4th, as i shifted to 5th, so 120-125mph. redline is 6700 i believe, as i havent bumped it since my dyno tune.
the 4.30s are insanely fun. they spool the engine at ~3000rpm @ 80mph on the highway. i get 15mpg city and 22mpg highway, so not too drastic a loss, though about 1-2mpg less than with 4.10s (got same mileage with 4.10s and tune as 3.55s stock).
i USED to have 4.10s, threw out the rear end, and put in 4.30s when it got fixed. the downside now is that first gear is useless unless ur goin perfectly straight on a road that GRIPS. its dangerous in every gear when its wet tho :bang:
to other posters:
my top end i computed to be 163 @ redline, and low 170s at 6500rpm. i have plenty of power to get there if given enough road. fastest ive gone was 158, with full tank and 300lb friend shotgun, and had plenty of pull left if i had the road to do it. (to get speed >145, keep "resetting" the ave speed on the computer...and have a friend do it to stay safe-r)
i do not know how i got that much power. it was measured on a load-bearing dyno (not a dynojet, similar to a mustang dyno but i suspect it displayed higher #s than mustang dyno). A/F ratio was flat at 12.8 from 2200rpm to 6300rpm from the tune. all i know is i broke into 12s on bald 255 KDWs, and ran consistantly 109+ despite minimal traction through the middle of 3rd gear. the way it performs seems to back up the dyno, but i prefer performance on the road over a dyno queen.
the c6 was manual. i doubt the auto lights the tires up goin into 3rd...though i could be wrong i guess. and im not sayin i beat him or could beat him, just that i held my own and would enjoy racing him at the track (top end of c6>top end of 05gt, so 1/4mi would give me more advantage)

while in your sig it says you ran a 12.9...a friend of mine ran his C6 and pulled a 12.5.
So the Vette driver wasn't very good...

i want to hit the track with some slicks cause i really dont get traction at all (esp since sac raceway doesn't prep the track well). if i were able to pull a 1.7 60' instead of 2.01 (best) to 2.15 (ave), i bet i could hit more towards mid 12s. o well, ive done my modding for now and im not concerned about a couple tenths...ill SC in a year or two when warantee (whats left of it) is out and i have the dough, then ill worry myself with #s again.

I'm glad you gave him a good run. A black C6 did me dirty this morning on the LIE (Long Island Expressway). I was in my Taurus though. I would like to have given him a run, I just had my new x-pipe without catts installed yesterday.

Thats all fine and dandy but his was bone stock and ran 12.5 on a 2.1 60ft.

i love corvettes, and i submit that your friends c6 is faster. im not trying to start an argument jeez.
if i wanted to get into the "my friends car..." trolling i would mention my friends m3 that runs 11.5 @ 127, or my friends 69 camaro that runs 11.7 @ 121 NA, and 10.9 @ 130 on the bottle or my friends viper that runs 11.9 stock. im the guy that parks in the corner of the parking lot and has never once tried to pick up a chick cuz of my car...its just a mustang gt....a mass-produced american car that i just happen to thoroughly enjoy driving every day.
i see gt continentals, turbo porsches, 760s, 360s and f430s, m5s, etc on an almost daily basis in LA, and i enjoy having an affordable, stylish alternative that holds its own for its price.
