Guy at work and his new Charger
Unbelievable conversation I got into at work today with an individual who paid way to much for the new Charger R/T. Anyhow, as it goes I am heading out to my car and he's looking at it. Well, being a part time Ford Guy and Dodge guy we got to talking. We started comparing notes on the cars, he was bragging about it's 340 horsepower hemi, blah blah blah. He made a comment about which car would win in a straight drag. I didn't want to make him feel bad knowing he paid sticker price so I told him I think his would win. He then followed it up by does yours have heated leather seats. I laughed and told him my Durango R/T had heated leather seats and that's the only vehicle I need them in. I guess when you pay 36 grand for a car you gotta justify it somehow. Hope he feels good about his heated seats.

Oh we will, heading out to Bremerton Raceway this summer. I see this guy everyday, so there is no avoiding it for him. At least I don't have to worry about him modding, cause he doesn't know much about cars other then he can press the pedal and it goes fast.
I have great respect for the Charger. My coworker has a R/T Hemi and that thing absolutely hauls. It has a lot of Mercedes DNA in it (E class suspension, transmission, etc) and it really shows. The thing handles like a Merc with a big American V8. Although it doesn't have any extra options, my friend paid only 28k for it. In my opinion, that is a lot of car for the money. The thing can roast its tires at will with 4 200lb guys in it (believe me we have fun lunches) and the torque is insane. Even though it weighs a lot the thing can really move. If you get a less than perfect launch, you may lose. I am sure I'll get flamed for this, but Chargers have earned my respect.
So, are there any 425hp Hemi's runnin the streets yet? Those are the ones I like. I actually saw a Charger driving the other way that was painted like the Daytona R/T showcar.
You can actually buy the Daytona package. It's basically an R/T with the R/T sport package with custom paint, spoiler and interior pieces.

Guess your buddy would really be bummed if he knew how badly I kicked the crap out of one of those R/Ts about 2 weeks ago, twice. Not that I would ever even remotely entertain the slightest notion of having anything what so ever to do with any type of display of speed or competition on a public roadway reguardless of the time or (lack of) traffic that may or may not be on the shared piece of roadway in question... I'm just saying.
Those things remind me of a joke.
Why does a chicken coop have two doors?
Because if it had four doors it would be a chicken sedan.

4 doors!!!I have tried, I just can't get over it. It brings to my mind a local commercial that plays here in Va. "You can't be a playa in a minivan" I am waiting for the challanger to see if the mustang /challanger argument is worth it. You can get horsepower anywhere..
If I were looking for a 4 door car I'd most definately give one a test drive. Probably the coolest looking 4 door going right now. They are a bit more expensive than a mustang GT but you get more foo foo goodies like navi.
They peformance numbers in print appear to be less than that of a Mustang GT, unless you go with the big boy which is 10 grand more than a base GT.
Still not what I'd call a charger but a cool looking sedan none the less.
Boy they sure getting alot of miliage out of that magnum platform.

I sat in one at the Miami auto show....... geez some naysayers complain about the Mustangs interior (no idea why).
The Chargers interior was BLAAAHHHH............
[actually I made a point to sit in all the competition that day - Charger, GTO, RX 8, 350 Z....]

i think it looks liek a old wagon or even a hearse. i am not impressed with it at all. To me it is not a charger at all. It is not retro or reminicent to the old Charger. It is jsut some ugly designed car (physically) for too much money sharing a name with a much better car (The original Charger)
