You can launch a standard at a higher rpm and automatic transmissions use HP to work resulting in higher drivetrain loss. If the guy in the standard knows what he is doing he should win

Key is if he or she is great. They got to be on his or her game with the stick. Just one missed gear and the stick is done. Or short or too long shift. But really what are we talking about in time. Half of a tenth or maybe one tenth. Lol

I'd say that is a false statement. Auto is more consistent yes, however due to drivetrain loss it will never be faster. It's popular at the drag strip because of its consistency, and it's unpopular at the road course due to the driver not being able to select whatever gear he wants.

Stick is a absolutely faster on a road track course because of all the downshifting you can do with it. But many times people miss and skip gears. human error and the auto hits the gears every time. Perfect, therefore overall faster on a more consistent basis

Auto is for old people, the disabled, and everyday drivers
That is the reason hardcore mustangs are not offered in auto, like the boss or Shelby, or any cobra

Until you let off the gas in a turn and the tranny decides to shift up. You waste just as much time getting the tranny to kick back down as you do picking the right gear in a manual.
