So was this thread to help justify getting the V6 over the GT? Did it already have the supercharger, or are you just planning on putting it on?

All I can say is wow, great deal dude. I think the dealership I went too had some military discounts but that did not apply to me. I asked if they had a law enforcement discount and no such luck either. Lol

Sorry thread spun off a bit. I don't have a super charger. Was thinking of it but trying to find out the negative things that may occur with it. The 5.0 is awesome and in a league all of its own.

Missed what I feel like I just read the same thing elsewhere.

At any rate, in the interest of the topic, I have a 99 V6 and sure, you can slap a SC on it and run with stock 99-04 GTs, but in the end, the V8 will still get you in most everything. Their are a lot of high power sixxers out there, Super Six Motorsports has built a lot of them, but for the money, work and time you put into it, its not worth it.

At the current 2012 5.0 prices it really doesn't make sense to buy the v6 and install a supercharger. Wow, Ford is giving some awesome deals with a 3,000 dollar rebate on the
5.0's. Amazing to get 5.0 around 26k nicely equipped. What a deal. I know when I bought my 11 back in October 2010 Ford was giving a 1000 dollar rebate. A base 5.0 was like 29 to 30k and change depending if it was auto.

Great, here come all the contradictions again. Like I said a long time back...If a V6 is all you can afford at the time and want to add a supercharger later, then go for it. But it never makes sense to buy a new V6 and supercharge it. V6 + SC = V8 price

I know the AM was/is doing a build on the new V6. This is great for marketing the products they sell and show what the engine can do. Personally I would go for the V8, and did.

But you don't need a 5.0. You have a "305 HP sports car!"

Back when I bought my 11 the base 5.0's were around 6k more. I paid 22,500 back in 2010. I wanna say base 5.0 back then were like 30k for automatic plus 1,000 rebate = 29k. For 6k one could of gotten a pro charger super charger. Add that to the 22,500 = 28,500.

According to Edmunds ford is currently offering a 1,000 rebate on the 2012 v6 models. Not 3000 like the 5.0's. According to Edmunds a base v6 and upgrade to 3.31 gears one can get for around 22k. One can get a 2012 5.0 for 26k with the 3,000 rebate. 6 k for the super charger with the v6= 28k.

Doing the math the 5.0 is two grand less. Take that two grand and do some nice mods on the 5.0. Of course with the super charger on the v6 you will have around 475 hp compared to 412 hp.

Based upon the current pricing of a 2012 5.0 I say that's a great deal for the 5.0.

No, I don't need a 5.0 for my needs but many do need a 5.0. Its an awesome car I just didn't want to pay the 6k extra for a car that had a lot of upgraded performance features that I wouldn't utilize because of how I use the vehicle.

Sure have started a lot of threads that compare the 5.0 and led on that you are disappointed the V6 can't do 160 like the speedo states.
