Heads would probably run in the neighborhood of 1500-2000. And you need good heads to make that much power.

The iron block GT500's used the NVH 5.4 truck block. The Ford GT uses a dedicated casting which can be had in dry sump form or modified for wet sump use. Ford might also still have in stock Ford GT based wet sump 5.4s

The newer aluminum 5.4 in the GT500 is a dedicated engine and shares nothing with the dry/wet Ford GT block.

They will work fine, especially if you port them. The big thing with any of the mod based stuff is the small bore which bones airflow a bit. You can open up a 5.4 to a 95mm bore using sleeves but they are pricey at about 1300 bucks ( http://www.dragtimes.com/parts/Darto...152043280.html ) before machining and require an aluminum block. Although such a combination (95mm bore x 105.8mm strock) would yield almost 6 liters in displcament (or around 366 CID)

However, if your planning on running a power adder the need to open up the bore for better airflow is a moot point.

Damnit, now you got me thinking since the wet sump GT block could be had for less than 3 grand and a 366 cid 5.4 does sound kinda nice.
