2012 Acura TSX or 2012 VW Jetta GLI???
2012 Acura TSX or 2012 VW Jetta GLI???
Am looking to replace my daily driver 12 year old Civic with 98k miles. Expecting a kid in the next 4 weeks, so we wanted something with more room than the civic, room for 2 kids in the back, plus maybe a stroller and a pack and play for the occasional trip to Gramma's house. We have a Honday Odyssey for our long hauler. This new vehicle will be my daily driver. The 5.0 is still my toy, and will continue to be so
Right now, I'm leaning towards the TSX, due to our love for Honda and it's reliability. The TSX rides very plush, and the seats (for comfort driving) is 2nd to none. The only con tho, imo, is lack of power. Being used to the 5.0, I shouldn't be surprised, right? Lol...
The GLI I test drove last weekend. Love the 2.0T engine. Throaty, and peppy, and definitely a distinct european german ride. Costs a little less than the TSX, but I am worried about the reliability. I have never owned a German car, and from what I hear/read, they're horrible at reliability esp with electrical issues. For a DD, maybe that's not a good thing
Anyways....thoughts?

Acura all the way.
If you're planing to keep it short term (under 5 year), it has a much better resale value than a VW.
If you're planing to keep it longer than that, it's still much more reliable than VW.
It's a win-win.
By the way, Acura is offering TSX now with a 3.5L 280 hp engine ...

Why get a TSX? It's nothing but a rebadged Accord EX.
Just get a fully loaded V6 Accord EX and you'll have significantly more horsepower than the TSX, still get the same car, and save about $3,000.
As for the VW, have you seen VW's reliability rating? They are some of the least reliable cars sold in the US.
