2008 Nissa GT-R vs. ANY extreme Mustang...
Weight likely has a good bit less to do with higway mileage than do the other factors. Once a car is actually moving it takes very little in the way of hp to maintain that forward motion so this seems unlikely to be a major player. GM's deft use of a very tall overdrive behind engines with the torque to effectively utilize them is a very big factor. In fact, this one is so simple you wonder how and/or why everybody (ie: Ford) isn't doing it?
Don't think the Saleen can match the GT-R's track-worthiness. As much as I hate to say it, IMO it is a tall order to build a tuned Mustang that will match the GT-R in all ride/handling/performance aspects for the same price, although that would be interesting to see some proposals or have someone try...
Cause the hwy mpg is good... city is not. Ive gotten 30hwy in my car, always around 15-16 in the city. Im sure the Z06 gets city mileage at least that bad, if not worse, while still pulling 30+ highway.
honestly, for half the price of a ford gt, the the GTR is not a bad buy. your losing 100hp, but then again, get a computer program, and you'll be as high if not higher. i bet the stock internals on the gtr can handle 700-800 no worries.
Supposedly the engineers built the PCM so it can't be tampered with
would be smart for nissian since these are going to get modded to heck and then people will blow them and come back for warrenty work.
of course i wouldn't want it that way but the company would want to protect itself from extra costs.

what ever tamper proofing is done, people will get around it. piggy-backing, stand alone. heck aem built a standalone computer for the s2000 that just plugs into the factory wiring harness. and besides i am sure there will be plenty of nismo goodies as well.
