2007 GT vs 2005 Saleen

Projections on who would win at the track...

The GT has a CAI tune from bama using 93 race tune, solid driver, manual.

The saleen is the base saleen with NO S/C, manual. It has a K & N intake, pullies and is said to have a factory tune. The saleen has been to the track and ran the best time the driver got was 14.1.

Who do you think would win a race between these to cars?

Good driver, shoot his tires and you'd probably survive.

Bad driver, and you could be asleep and win.

GT hands down if you are a decent driver. cuase his best time of 14.1 shows that he sucks at driving.

Stock GT should be able to beat a 14.1 even with a semi decent driver.

Being a former 3V Saleen Owner: GT because of the 20" (9" Wide all around)Wheels on a 2005 Saleen are heavier, and everyone at the track recommended me to switch to a smaller rim. My best (beginner 2006) was 14.3

Now, I have a SC in my Saleen with same wheels. I can't hook up the stock tires.

Next upgrade wheels and tires

Yup, the 20's were the first thing I thought too, and the extra bodywork adds weight as well. The Bama tune will make a few more ponies then the Saleen tune, but not enough to hinder it like the wheel package does.

The Saleen owner says that the suspension is supposed to be awesome. He also said it can out handle a new Corvette, I found this hard to believe. Opinions?

road course

saleen vs corvette = vette
you vs saleen=saleen

STRAIGHT LINE
saleen vs corvette = vette
you vs saleen = you seem to be the better driver so you could probably take him

You all the way

Those 20s won't help him and if he is running the stock Saleen tune (if it is anything like the average BLAH tune they have for the SC cars), then you should have a fairly easy time.

Btw - everyone always talks about the extra bodywork really weighing down the Saleen S197s..... isn't all that stuff urethane anyway?.... How is that going to add any significant weight at all?.......

The main culprits I see are the 20 inch wheels and the hood - the rest of the bodykit parts should be negligible.

maybe for corners, but in a straightline hard acceleration, its gonna hurt him more than it would help since its built to prevent weight transfer, and thats what helps in the 1/4mi launch.

The racecraft suspension is rather simple(not bad but on par with any other lowering system). The equivilent of FRPP shocks/Steeda ultralites and a FRPP front sway bar. Its only about $700 for the package.
