Not sure about 03's, but 05's would sure take him, a GLI would be much closer

Is he stock? 6spd or DSG?

If he's stock and you can drive, he shouldn't be a problem. But if he can drive, and he's modded, he may be tougher than youd think.

GTI can hardly beat base 3.8L Mustang. He doesn't stand a chance against GT.

stock to stock the GT will win.

GTIs mod very easy though. ecu upgrade grants a ton of power and is not too expensive either.

R32s are AWD too so they launch well, but theyre pricey (overpriced). Regular GTIs, assuming 02-03ish, as someone said mod really easy. My cousins got his chipped with a turboback exhaust and he put down 220/250 to the ground, and itll go neck and neck with his bros 05 S2000. You should be fine if hes stock though.

Edit: just saw its a 6-speed, is this a golf or a jetta? I know the jetta GLIs had a 6-speed but theyre still the same 1.8t as a golf GTI, but the only golfs that i know of with a 6 are the R32s. Looks like you might be in for a fight.

I wouldn't be too worried about a R32. I raced one in a stock 98 grand prix gtp and it was dead even.

Of course it wasn't from a dig so he lost his awd advantage.

Bleh. I respect almost every kind of performance car, whether it's domestic, import, or European, but I just can't understand VW's. I know I'm highly generalizing here, but it seems like most of the drivers are a little... off. lol

If its manual tranny then its not the R32, R32 is only offered in DSG.

A Mach I, which I presume you have from your profile, or any late model GT ought to handle a GTI pretty easily on the straights. Through in a few curves and the GTI might fare a bit better, especially in the hands of a good driver.

On a side note, finally got to drive a DSG gearbox -- an Audi A3 actually which is pretty much a GTI under the skin -- and wow, clearly the gearbox of the future! Works as smoothly and easily as any good slushbox tranny in full auto mode, but snaps off instant shifts with perfect rev matching in manual mode. And since your hands never have to leave the wheel, you can focus far more on the driving itself. Really is the best of all worlds and this coming from an old school stick wiggler.

It says Mach1 Member next to his avatar because of how many posts he has made, it is sort of a ranking for how many posts you have. Starts out with newbie at one post and goes to mach one with a lot of posts.
Shake it off
