Nice article on the SL65:

My favorite quote from the article:
No doubt the AMG is a nice ride, but even if I could afford one and wore an Armani suit to work, I'd take the Snake

My favorite quote from the article:
I find I've turned an 11.85-second quarter at 118 mph-with the air-conditioning on and the seat gently massaging my back. When I pull up to the booth to get my time slip, the track official is apoplectic. "You need to slow down. You just ran in the 11s. I think you need a roll cage."

The cost difference kinda puts these two in different atmospheres, but both are sweet rides. 738 ft-lb of torque in the MB, i love it. Picked the snake anyways though. obivously.
And im with Barrett, its my first and itll be my last.

hmm i dunno...tough choice...unless youve driven an SL even if its the 500, its such an amazing car. I got to drive my friends moms 2005 SL500. The technology, the materials, the fit and finish are spectacular. The V8 in that car sounds so bada**. Touch one button and put the top down and its a whole differnt car. Then when you throw the 65 into the mix thats one heck of a monster. If i was given the choice id have to take the 65.

So say the GT500 is 50 grand and the sl65 is 180 grand. For the price of the SL65 you could buy 2 GT 500 with some crate motors and a ton of mods so that it they could own the sl65

Why buy a crate motor for the GT500? With a pulley, tune, intake, exhaust you'd have some crazy big numbers. Or if you wanna go totally insane, swap the stock blower for a KB 2.4 or something.
But yeah, about the SL, those TT V12s can propel 5000 pounds of luxury down the 1/4 in the mid 11s...so yeah.

Mercedes, they're my favorite cars. I would love to have late 1990s S-Class.
