Believe it or not, I almost bought a Hyundai Tiburon, had I not seen the '05 Mustang. With its sleek design and considerably low price, it's practically a poor man's Ferrari. All you need to do is remove the Hyundai emblems, and you'll have people asking if the car's Italian.

But in the end, I chose the Mustang over the Tiburon for numerous factors, including reliability and depreciation.

Now if you can't afford the Mustang GT, but want a sporty coupe that's fast, yet reasonable in fuel economy, would you buy the Mustang V6 or the Tiburon SE?

I have never considered a Tiburon. My friend has one of those.
I like the Mustang better overall. It has a slight edge of performance toward the Tiburon, and is RWD in which you can do more fun stupid stuff on lol.
Good choice

Yes, it's a Hyundai. That's why many Tiburon owners ditch the Hyundai emblems and replace them with the original Korean Tuscani emblems.

Of course, that doesn't help its reliability. One of my friends bought his Tiburon GT V6 two years ago, and the driver's side window motor is already shot. Current and former owners of the 6MT version have complained that the clutch fried after less than 3000 miles, and Hyundai supposedly refused them warranty work. (So much for "America's Best Warranty...")

BTW, the second poll choice is supposed to be the Hyundai Tiburon SE, but I inadvertently duplicated the V6 image on both choices.

Hyundai quality is now above Toyota's according to JD Power. I owned a 2003 Tiburon GT and didn't have any problems whatsoever. Its a great car, terrific bang for the buck and it responds tremendously to NA mods. Of course I sold it and bought a Stang GT. I never would have traded for the V6 Stang though.

the V-6 stang is a decent car, but i dont understand ford's logic. it's the 21st century and you make an all new car, but the base engine is as old as the car name itself? please oh please ford, put the duratec 35 in when it (finally) comes out!

old engine and all, i'd still never buy a hyundai. the resale value sinks like a brick. that tiburon is a pretty nice looker though.

Hyundai has the most reliable car (sonata), so I'm sure the rest of the lineup will start growing

The was initial quality, lets wait a year or so to see how relible it remains.

A friend of mine has a Tyburon V6 and he is a memeber of some Tiburon forum and everyone on there says as soon as the car gets like 50-60k miles the car just falls apart.

Ouch! Good thing I passed on it. Gotta admit that some body kits make it look hot, though. Here's the German-mande ATH kit:

BTW, as a common courtesy, don't "quote" these images. We only need to see them once.

The Tiburon does look nice, I'll give it that. Compared to 06 Eclipses, 350Z's, and whatever else modern sports coupe out there, it looks the best IMO.

I'm in love with the Mustang's styling though, can't beat it. Between a V6 and a Tiburon, I'd probably take the V6.

If you're talking about the taillights on the bumper, they're stock on the European model. The only ATH treatment on the rear end is the bumper skirt.

But then again, all you need is the front bumper to make the Tiburon look great. Here's a couple of pics:

I do like the way it looks, but Mustangs are in my blood. Been driving one since, well I could drive. (17-18 years).

A 4.0L OHC fuel-injected engine in '64? I think not. But I like the idea of putting it in the base Mustang. Then they'd have to bump the GT back to the good ole 5.0, maybe getting 350hp stock.... Hmmm...

Not too long ago, Hyundai planned to release a cabriolet version of the Tiburon. With a folding hardtop designed by Karmann Coachworks, this was to be the cheapest convertible/hardtop (costing thousands less than the Mercedes-Benz SLK). Too bad Pontiac will beat them to the punch with the G6 Convertible next year.

And yes, the Cabriolet concept is pretty fugly.

That thing is classy. Looks like a Maserati/Lexus. And why would Pontiac make a G6 convertible? Am I the only one who thinks that is the most boring car on the market?
