1982 GT vs 2014 GT Comparison Thoughts.
When I was sitting in my '14 the other day I was thinking how hard the seats were and thought about my old soft cloth seats in my first Mustang, an '82 GT, the first new car I ever could afford and purchase at $9,616.
The 2014 GT wins in almost every category but here are some 1982 winners in my personal opinion. There are not many though and I'm probably forgetting some. Can anyone think of something better? I know it's very personal and subjective
.
1) As mentioned, the seats were very soft and I always liked cloth over leather. Does a modern GT even offer cloth??
2) The 4 speed manual. I always felt the 4 speed was the perfect number. I've had quite a few 5 and 6 speeds and too many shifts.
3) The 'real' engine compartment vs modern covers and ease of working on them. .
4) Easy basic oil change with just 5 quarts, if my memory serves me correctly. No trays to remove, etc...
5) The 157 HP H.O. 302 engine vs the 420 HP 302 engine. JUST KIDDING!!!!
*** If I did the reverse I would have to list 100 or more reasons why the '14 is better. The 2014 window sticker was $45,555 by the way. It is a convertible but it's amazing to see the 32 year price jump.
