Searching for Saleen(s)

I cannot figure out a good way to shop Saleen vehicles...

It seems that dealers force you to request a quote?

There are no local delers here in Jax per the Saleen website (Ocala seems to be the closest) either so I am at a loss.

I've looked at ebay, but there are NO 2007 S281s listed...

Any ideas on the best way to explore this option??

Also, I read a recommendation in relation to a roush negotiation that you should negotiate separately on the base car and the package; does this hold true for Saleens as well???

If so, is it possible to utilize an A or Z plan on the base car and then separately negotiate the Saleen package???

Any help greatly appreciated!

thanks

The Midwest is buried in '06 Saleens. Do a locate on the Ford website for an '06 Mustang and pretty much any non-convertible, 5 spd, deluxe GT left is a Saleen.

I spoke with one dealer about what they were going to do since everyone has them and he said Saleen offers incentives on top of Fords.

That's pretty much all I have to offer. Unless there is a compelling reason to go with an '07 I'd check out an '06.

I may be an idiot, but is the search on Ford Direct??

I can get to it, but once I enter the criteria, there is no "Search" button, but only the option on the other side of the screen which is to "Get an Internet price" and for which I have to enter all of my information to perform every search, whhich I would rather not do...

Am I missing something?

and thanks again!

You're not an idiot. Ford's website search is pretty broad so you get back any Mustang available at a dealership for the model year specified.

Even easier is to call Ford at 800.713.9370 and have one of the program specialists do the search with your specifications for you and then email you the list. They're not going to be able to provide any help on the Saleen side, but you can specify color and the stuff I previously mentioned and what they'll find will be a Saleen, Roush, or Foose (sp?). Primarily Saleen.

That is what I found after unsuccessfully searching for an unmodified one myself.

thanks for the info from the ford side of aisle!

I'd also be very interested in any other info anyone has on whether there is a way to search for Saleens directly without knowing the dealerships. This would make locating one much easier if necessary

thanks again

The package is not separate. When a car is drop shipped to Roush, or Saleen, they replace the original window label, with a new one, that includes all the options from Saleen/Roush. Its not a separate label. The only way you could negotiate this would be for a Roush dealer who installed a Stage kit on one of their stock GT's. Then the separate label would be there.

BTW, if you would like, let me know what color Saleen you are looking for. I can do a locate at work, and help you find one that may work for you, and let you know where it is located at? I won't know what type of Saleen they are (the dealer locator only shows the car was sent to Saleen, but doesn't say if its a standard, S/C or Extreme), but I can pass the info to you. Feel free to send me a PM. I'll be glad to help.

Thanks for your help.

I'm not quite in the market yet, but am hoiping that I will be in the next few months and as such, have been trying to figure out how to even locate to try to shop prices when the time comes, as my understanding (which could be wrong) is that there are many 06 Saleens floating around and that deals may be had. However, I am having a horrible time trying to locate them.

I may take you up on your offer in the future, and thanks again.

Also, thanks for the info on the packaging, but do you know if the Ford plans (A or Z) apply or may be used on Saleens?? Or do they not permit such because they call themselves an OEM manufaturer?

No problem dude. Glad to help. When your ready, I'll be happy to see what is out there for you. In regards to using A-Plan for a Saleen, that is a good question. I'll have to do some research for you.

Typically any GT deluxe with only the shaker 500/IUP/spoiler delete options are saleen orders.(at least in the FMCDealer search). Most Saleen dealers will not stock an extreme, but usually have one S281 and one S281s. We are wiped out of all of them. I am still trying to get a Parnelli Jones edition in

Negotiating the different prices are kinda silly. You can figure out the base car price and what the upgrade costs and negotiate the package, unless you are sending a car to Saleen to be made up after the purchase. Its pretty much the same as normal MSRP markup, the more expensive the unit is, the more 'fluff' there is in it. But the more expensive it is, the more rediculous it gets to negotiate. If you can afford a loaded extreme at $80,000, then what the heck difference is $2000 going to make? :P

Thanks for the info.

I'm with you on nickel and diming when you're already in the stratosphere. However, I am certainly not in the market for an $80K E. I am simply looking to obtain the best buy I am able to for my money, in light of circumstances the dealer have to deal with which I may be able to take advantage of, i.e., remaining overstock or unsold inventory getting stale on the books.

Thanks again!

I had some Saleen order sheets with the cost/retail prices on them and all the options but I can't find them. I will see if I can dig one up somewhere.
