Question about dealerships and interior noises.............

In my 2006 Mustang GT, I have two dash rattles, a door rattle, and a LOUD vibration somewhere in the rear of the body. I drive on pretty smooth pavement, since I live in Atlanta. Multiple dealers have looked at all of the noises, and they all say, "well, we couldn't find anything, these things take time. Come back again, and we'll take another look." One dealer drove the car for 1.1 miles. 1.1 MILES!!!!!! I guess they went to get lunch in it and that's it. My car has 21K miles on it, and it makes more noise than my old 1993 Grand Cherokee that had 190K miles on it. I hate taking clients to lunch in my "new" car and trying to hold conversation in this rattle box. What can I do to get these dealers to even seriously look at this car. I know it's a pain tracking down noises, I lived with one, then the second LOUD one came, and now that the weather is cold, 2 more have appeared. It's like i'm driving over railroad tracks with all the noise, only i'm on smooth pavement. The second time I brought it in, I made an appointment for Monday, 7:30am. I was told it would be looked at first thing. I let them have the car until Wednesday evening. When I arrived to pick it up, they just got done looking at it. 3 days, 4 rattles, and 5 miles worth of driving to find it. Anyone have suggestions on what to do? Thanks.

My 06 has 2300 miles and took it to the dealer twice for the dash rattles. First dealer couldn't find anything. Took it to another dealer down the street and they found the rattles. They installed felt insulators in the a-pillars and solved my problem-for now. Been hearing an awful lot about rattles and I think all of the new Stangs have the rattles. Hope that is not the future of Ford cars as I will be in the market for a new Superduty when they come out in January.

None of our Fords have ever been rattle or squeek free. The vibration does not sound normal, but taking in your car for dash rattling/squeeking is asking for trouble. The dealerships will do more damage in the long run than any good (damage to your panels, soiling your carpet/seats, etc...)

I have an 02 F250 crewcab diesel that I bought new. It now has 61000 miles and to this day no rattles. I've towed everything from race cars, motorhomes, motorcycles, driven it down some of the worst washboard dirt roads in Ocala National Forest towing my toyhauler with my quads where it feels like you would shake your fillings out and still no rattles or squeeks.
I'm hoping this problem has been isolated to the new Mustangs.
BTW, have had my GT back from the dealer for about two weeks now they seemed to have repaired the problem with the felt inserts in the a-pillar trim. (fingers crossed).

My '06 vert doesn't rattle.
In fact, none of the Fords (69 stang, 71 Pinto, 90 Taurus, 88 Ranger) that I've owned have had any interior noise.
My Plymouth, Honda, and Dodge all had squeaks and rattles after less than 5000 miles. Only non-Ford that was quiet was my 80 Buick Regal.

Same thing happened to me way back in 1973. I bought a brand new Chevy Nova, 350 4 speed. Had it financed through GMAC. Brought the car home on a Friday night. It rained really hard that night. Next morning the car was full of water. Literally! As I was in construction work and did'nt have the time to keep running it back to the dealer, my wife took it back. Three weeks later, they were still giving her the run around, so I just stopped making the payment. I said nothing to no one. I never called the finance people at all. I SAID NOTHING TO NO ONE!

I stuck the payment away in a sock in my dresser. It was priceless! Sure enough, a while later, I get a personal visit from 2 dudes from GMAC telling me they never received their payment. After I told them the story about the car leaking and the dealership wanting to do nothing, I just explained to them, that once the car was fixed, and fixed properly, they would get their money. All of it. But, until that car was fixed properly, they were not getting 1 red cent. Talk about results!

They told me to have the car at the dealership the following morning. It would be fixed. They guaranteed it! I explained that I wanted all new carpet put in, and all new window seals; on all windows replaced. I made the wife go watch them do it also. When she took it back the service guy had told her that they took a water hose and had tried all windows and none leaked. My wife told the guy to get in the car, and she would put the water to it. The guy was inside the car and the wife just happened to hit the right spot; she was soaking him. It was quite a while before she let off the hose. She was so ****ed. The guy was totally drenched! She wanted to make sure he seen it this time I guess. Talk about service after that! They even called me Mister, and Sir. You just gotta get some ***** with these morons Finlay.

Well, I fixed all the rattles except the metallic from the rear of the body.

I put felt between the a-pillar and dash on both sides. The trim piece right behind the door handle on the inside was taken off, lined with felt, and re-installed. The last was lining the leather seat where it meets the base.

The metallic rattle is beyond me. I took my Flowmasters off so the dealer can't say "your exhaust hinders us" as they've done before. It's now going to the dealership of purchase and they have assured me, it will get done. Wednesday is the day, and i'll just wait and see.
