I placed an order with my dealer a month ago. I have a DORA but the car is clean and unscheduled. My priority is 15.

My dealer claims that I will have my car in the second batch he recieves. I know he is getting 2 GTs next week.

Should I assume that I will get my car early Sept.? He is a bit wishy washy when I try to pin him down. He is saying maybe Sept. or Oct.

Should I be concerned?

Thanks

Really not enough information to make an educated guess. There are a lot of variables in the situation including commodity constraints, regional allocation and available body codes, as well as a particular dealer's allocation.

Thanks Ed. What questions should I be asking to get my delivery date confirmed?

Just point blank ask your dealer how many GT retail orders are ahead of you and how many Mustangs they have allocated for the next allocation period. He will be wondering how you knew what to ask. Just tell him that you hope you have a low enough priority code and that there are no commodity issues to prevent your order from being pulled.

Just got off the phone with the dealer, he was shocked that I used such terms as, "DORA" and, "commodity issues".

Only two folks ahead of me in the retail order line, and I'll be getting a fax of my DORA shortly.

Thanks again for helping with this forum, Ed.

Ed,

Please read my emails to my dealer. Is telling me the truth? His responses are in bold.

Thanks

Hi,

Your order is still unscheduled clean. You have only 3 orders before you that has not been scheduled.

Thanks

Munzer

Hi Mike,

You will not be able to do that, you have to have some trust factor. I have told you you are in the line and our priority is based on first come first ordered basis.

I will let you know as soon as I get a built date. The first allocation had a build date of 08082005.

Best wishes

Sounds to me like he is being up front with you. He has 3 orders ahead of you but he does not know as we do not know just what our mix of GT's will be for the next allocation period. Just be patient.

Ed,

If you have an order that is scheduled to be built the week of the 22nd what do you think the time frame is for actual delivery of the car? (barring a quality hold etc.) Thanks - I apprciate even a best guess.

Depends on what part of the country you are in and availability of rail cars [there has been a shortage for years]. We are in the heart of the midwest and I usually figure on 10-14 days.

Remember, a build date of 8/22 is the week of 8/22 so it could be built anywhere during that 7 day period of the 22nd to the 28th.
