I WILL be buying a GT500 when they begin taking orders. Would it benefit me in any way to talk to dealerships now vice waiting until it is time to order?

It depends on the dealer. The way I see members who were screwed around by their dealers on regular GT Mustangs, I can only imagine what will happen with the GT500. Some dealers are waiting until they actually have order guides and prices in hand; others are taking minimal deposits to be put on a priority list to be able to order when the time comes. One problem is that dealers have no firm allocation numbers to know exactly how many of these cars they will get. They can take an educated guess and probably come close butr that's about it.
I would say if you can find an honest reputable dealer that will give you straight answers and is willing to put your name on a car [price to be negotiated later] then do it. From what I have seen at our store, the demand will be more than supply [and the car is not even announced to the masses yet] so expect to pay over MSRP for the car. It also looks like a certain number of the cars will be built as convertables which further makes it desirable.
Good luck!
