Hybrid Escape

According to current IRS policy, if someone leases a hybrid car the tax benefit goes to the leasing compnay - not the person leasing the car. Local Toyota guy tells me I'm wrong - but the policy is crystal clear on the IRS website. Have any Ford dealers that offer the hybrid Escape for lease heard anything different?

I think that leasing is totally different from buying, as the lease company is also responsible for registering the car and paying its property taxes. You are only 'renting' the car in a lease.
