I'm sure this issue has been beat to death, but here it goes. I ordered an 05 Mustang GT coupe from a local dealer back on 3/10 and was told 8-10 weeks. Since I had numerous dealings with the dealers parts and service departments, all good, I figured the sales department would be the same...first mistake. 4 months later, balanced out. I spoke with both the dealer and Ford rep at the same time at the dealership and both swore I'd have an 06 GT by Labor Day (still not serialized nor a build date yet). I was told that people in my position (balanced out 05) would be the first to get an 06. Is this true? I was told that the NYC area is the hardest place to get a GT. Is this dealer being dishonest, or is Ford messing with this dealer? I hate to cancel my order, as other dealers have told me if I order an 06 from another dealer (basically starting over), I wouldn't see it until next winter/spring. Thanks in advance, Kevin

It all depends on how many 06 Mustangs the dealer was allocated. We were given 5 for what they call system fill which basically is the 1st run of a model year to give dealer at least 1 car. I had 4 sold orders, 3 x-plan and 1 z-plan in the system and my regional rep said he would do everything he could to get them scheduled right away. 2 weeks of scheduling have gone by and the 1st 2 orders pulled. The 3rd is due to pull tomorrow night [Ford's week starts on Thurs]. There is a 2 week lag with none being scheduled then the 4th is supposed to pull.
I do not know if your dealer had more than one sold Mustang in the system but that could be a reason. If I were you I would call him tomorrow and ask how many Mustangs they were allocated and how many sold orders they have. it up to the dealer to prioritize the orders as to how he wants them built, not Ford. Ask if he can get it pulled tomorrow night.

Have you point blank asked your salesperson and or sales manager what is going on? Try to find out what your priority code is as well as if you have any options that might be in short supply or on hold. If they have gotten 06 Mustangs in already and yours does not have a schedule date, I would consider going somewhere else. Mustang production is being increased this year so unless yuor dealer is one of the real small ones with almost no allocation, tell them you want your car.

Congrats. and you are not being a hiney to want the car you ordered. All you had to do was push the right buttons.
