S197 front brake upgrade

I agree with 5.Monster. You will be fine with Motul 600. I have been running it for a a couple of years now without any boiling issues, even in South Florida. I just change it once a year to make sure it is dry.

Will install in July/August. I'm hoping this will give me excellent, long-lasting performance on the track, and allow me to keep my 14" 4-piston setup, to save weight and $. I'll report back in a few months when complete.

I am from London, DELETED. And all sorts of bike upgrade in my location cost a hell of money. I do not know when I will be able to afford all modifications I dream of. Sometimes it looks like it would be more reasonable to continue saving money for a bit longer and then buy some newer model. I will need to wait a little longer as the quarantine crossed all my plans.

you can choose smaller 4 piston brakes, be able to quickly swap pads without taking off the whole caliper each time, and be able to use smaller wheels and have much wider selection of tires
or
have the larger 6 piston setup with less pad and tire choices and have to run 19” or larger wheels
or
go with CCB option, save all the weight, have great stoping performance, but pay close to $10k to replace rotors when they wear.
it’s nice that OEMs give us the choice. This way we can choose what works best for our individual use case.
in my experience less than 10% of even the 4 pot Brembo users know how to use the brakes properly and get the maximum performance out of them. This percentage shrinks significantly as the brakes get larger. 95% or even more of track day drivers brake too soon. And if you brake too early it doesn’t matter how big the brakes are. In this scenario larger brakes delay inevitable fade by 1 lap.
but anyway, it would be nice to hear from PJR to see how the upgrades worked out.

Well my DD doesn't have ABS so I have to constantly remind myself that in a panic stop I've got to be pumping those breaks. I had to panic stop last weekend and promptly forgot to pump my brakes! Luckily I got stopped but there was definitely a sphincter moment!

That's actually kinda impressive! I have not owned a non-abs car since college. Last time I drove a non-ABS car was last year. It was a Catherham 7, and it was at a drift course. But I locked up the brakes and killed some cones. Thankfully didn't hit anyone, but my brain is not used to doing ABS for sure!
