Well, to start with have a HUGE amount of money. If you havent raced before, a great place to start is in Auto Cross. Doesnt matter what you drive (completly stock, slight modification, etc), there is a place for you in AX. Its safe, little chance of causing a ton of damage to your car (about the most you will hit is a cone),and its challenging.

ok, well the money is a big dont have...im buyign another house right now....so is there not a test and tune kinda thing on an open track or like a trac night?...i dont really know what questions to ask so im going to ramble until i get some made up.
There are open track events that you can take almost any care with a minimal amount to safety equipment but they usually cost in the realm of ~250 to ~350 a day.
