Noobie. Advice please

I'm considering buying an early sn95 gt for track duty. Good idea? Pros and cons? Can I get a running driving GT for $3000 or less?

I had an SN95 GT when I got into track racing. Sold it and bought a 350z. If you're willing to put money into it you can make it a good track car. Just my opinion.
