Mustang wins Fontana GrandAM Cup Race
Another win for the 05--this time it is the Multimatic 05 car
Story from Motorsports.com: (Apr 2 2005)
Gunnar Jeannette and James Gue raced the No. 05 Multimatic Motorsports/Ford Racing Mustang when it counted on the California Speedway 2.82-mile road/oval circuit to score the team's second victory in the Grand-Am Cup series race on Saturday.
"It feels great, we have been developing this car for a long time," commented Gue. "Multimatic did a great job. To get a win here is great!"
Jeannette scored his first career win in the series and was smiling as he expressed his and Gue's feelings on today's victory. "Got to really thank the Multimatic guys, they and Ford have done a great job. To give them this win is great for James and myself."
The duo did not have it easy in the very packed field of 64 Grand-Am Cup cars. Especially at the end, when Darren Law had the Zoom Motorsports No. 6 Porsche 996 in the lead, as fifth caution of the 71 lap race was displayed.
The final l2 laps was a toss-up for the podium steps. Jeannette got the lead going into NASCAR Turn 1 and held off Law to take the checkered flag. "On the final restart, I knew our real advantage was on the front straight before the first infield turn where we have to funnel down. I wanted enough of an edge to not be messy," said Jeannette.

Fantastic!!!

This is attributed to the additional 75lbs...and not the live-rear axle right?
I don't wanna hear 'bout no Porsche out handling the '05's

"The Porsches right now pretty much outhandle us because we're so heavy so I tried to kind of time it a bit but Darren (Law) timed it also and he was too early so I got a run on him. He had to stop before the green flag even came out so I kind of bobbled it a bit. But luckily, you know, the green flag came out right as I lifted and I just went down again and ended up getting him going into NASCAR (Turn) 1."
