The Rehagen Racing/TheMustangSource.com 2005 Mustang GT makes its racing debut this Sunday at the Grand American Cup 200 in Mansfield, Ohio.

Rehagen Racing/TheMustangSource.com will be campaigning a white 2004 Mustang SVT Cobra (#58) and a black 2005 Mustang GT (#59).

The 05 and 55 Multimatic Mustangs were 2nd and 4th in the first practice session today.

71 entries in the Cup race: 36 GS and 35 ST, all on a 2.25 mile track. Sounds like there will be lots of traffic!

 

Did the Rehagen Mustang GT Race? I didn't see it on the results.

 

The 59 crashed out with 21 laps to go. Not sure how or where it happened, except that it wasn't in Thunder Valley where we were watching. I'm sure Brad will have some more details when he gets home. The 58 was still running at the end, but 3 laps down.

 

Yeah I was wondering about the '05 Regahan Mustang GT I did not see it on the race Results list. Did it not run?

 

It's on the results list, just way down near the bottom. 26th in class and 52nd overall.

 

Any updates on what happened to the 59? Can it be fixed in time for Phoenix?

 

The reason I was confused is that the site still said it was an Mustang SVT so I thought they had run to 03-04 Cobra instead. Obviously from the pics that is not the case.

 

The Rehagen Racing/Korn/TheMustangSource.com #59 2005 Mustang GT qualified 5th, but was bumped to the back--36th--after it measured 1/16" too low. By Lap 28 it had moved from 36th to 13th, but hit the wall on Lap 64 and finished 26th. Every panel on the right side of the car was hit, but I'm sure they can get it together in time for Phoenix. Rara can shed more light on that.

I got about 950 photos and 22 videos from the weekend--the raw files are available for download in the Team Mustang Source section of the forums. I am working on editing them all and hope to have them posted by the end of the week, assuming the power comes back on at the house.

Well guys, there is no mistaking, the new car is definately fast. We just had couple teething problems at Mid-Ohio, including some wall contact during the race . . .

The car was rushed straight off to the body shop on monday morning, and should be all ready to go for Phoenix.

 

Good to hear! But it's retarded that the Mid-Ohio race won't be on TV until after the Phoenix race.

 

Yeah, the whole tape-delay thing on SPEED gets pretty annoying, especially for somebody like me that follows a lot of the smaller series that aren't "worthy" of a live or even same week showing. They usually don't even give Speed World Challenge a same weekend slot, and they're the title sponsor. I guess real racing isn't as important as what Dale Jr had for breakfast. Then again, I guess we're lucky that this stuff gets shown at all.

Glad to here you're ok, Brad. It completely slipped my mind that you were flying home to a hurricane.

Hopefully the #59 will have better luck at Phoenix. If memory serves, they run separate races for ST and GS there, so there should be fewer cars to trip over.

Speaking of the 59, where did it go off? Was there another car involved?

I don't recall exactly, since I couldn't see it, but I believe he was somewhere between Thunder Valley and the carousel when the incident occured. No other cars were involved, but Romeo was mixing it up with a Porsche immediately prior.

 

We musta just missed seeing it. We were actually in Thunder Valley just before the bridge at the time.
