Cheap ways to road race

I really would like to get into it, but I dont have the money to spend 250-300 bucks a day to go to the racetrack. Is there anywhere to do it for cheaper?

Where are you located? VIR does Holiday laps next Friday, $25 for 5 laps. They also have lunch laps whenever a big event comes to town, monthly? Not timed officially, but at race speeds and with a GPS, you can get lap times.

I am in the same boat, i live in south texas and the only track down here is only open for a couple of times out of the year. But the drag track is open every week. I really want to start racing already so i can practise.

I am located in southern NY about an hour north of the city, so my closest road courses are Watkins Glenn, Limerock, and now the one in south Jersey I forgot what it was called

Well, as far as facilities in NY state are concerned, you can now add Monticello Motor Club to the list. It's patterned along the newer business trend/model of "Motorsports Resorts." Located in Monticello, NY "about 90 minutes from New York City," it may be convenient...but it da*n sure ain't gonna be cheap...

http://www.monticellomotorclub.com/

According to w'site info, the club will offer up to 500 Resident Memberships, and--now get ready--membership "...initiates at $125,000 with yearly dues presently at $7,500."

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL......

But hey, for those budget-conscious and discerning buyers, "Limited National Memberships are offered at $75,000."

*takes moment to roll out of chair laughing*

P.S. but seriously--it does look like one he*l of a track...

That's a great price. My local track (Summit Point) reams us with $250 for 4 x 25 minute sessions at their Fridays at the Track (FATT).

Ya its a great price and if your not already a hot shoe, you can take the class. If you want me to be the instructor for the day just request me!

Also, there is NOWHERE on the track where you could run off far enough to hit anything, no walls in sight just huge runoff areas.

We had a viper blow a ft brake rotor at 160 mph and didnt make it to the wall.

We had one guy who broke a steering rack and didnt lift, but in my mind that didnt count!!

Music to my ears. The East coast tracks are pretty unforgiving.

Unfortunately, according to Google-maps, you guys are 1,130 miles away from me.
