The Roger Penske Ford Team won it's second straight NASCAR Championship with the #12 Ryan Blaney car. They won it last year with the #22 Joey Lagano car.
Jim Farley, CEO of Ford, finished 3rd in a vintage race at Daytona last weekend. He raced a 1965 Ford Shelby GT40 Mk 1.
Always a fan of Ford in Nascar and mostly David Pearson's Mercury models. I loved Nascar so much in the 70's and went to endless races at Daytona, ordering tickets as soon as they were available for both the 500 and Firecracker 400 in July. Bobby Allison was my favorite driver, even in the Chevys.
Now I watch a few races on TV and can't name 20 drivers without thinking hard. If you didn't tell me who won the championship this year, I would not have known.
Stages with mandatory pit stops and far too much political correctness really turned me off (see the Bubba Wallace insanity).
I went to the Nascar Hall of Fame when it first opened in Charlotte, yet i'm afraid I would dislike it today so have not re-visited. Why spoil a good memory.
This was Nascar as I like to remember it.
Amen & Amen brother!!! Three drivers who could drive any make and I'd of rooted for them!!!
Bobby Allison, David Pearson & Terry Labonte
Junior Johnson, The Wood Brothers, Dale Jarrett, Brad Keselowski (with Penske and now co-owner with Jack Roush), Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards (he did a back flip off his car after a win), Kurt Bush, Joey Lagano (won 2022 Championship) and many others.
Of course, the most famous Ford guy was Carroll Shelby. He put Ford on the world map with three straight wins at Le Mans with a Ford GT40. He started with the 1962-1965 Shelby Cobra. The early 1965-1970 Ford Shelby Mustangs were great.
Kind of like you, truly the only Chevy driver I ever rooted for was Mark Martin but I was a Martin Fan since the Folgers Ford days in the late 80's.
I actually met Dale Earnhardt the First year they had the Busch race at Loudon. He was racing at Lee USA Speedway with Kenny Schrader and Sterling Marlin and Earnhardt along with Kenny and Sterling drove some of the local drivers spare cars. Earnhardt whether you hated him or loved him could could set up and drive anything including the Pontiac he drove that night that had never came in the top 10 let alone win a race and beat the field with 10 practice laps.
Actually did root for him when he won the Daytona 500 since we cold finally quit listening to the rhetoric about him not winning it.
Amen & Amen brother!!! Three drivers who could drive any make and I'd of rooted for them!!!

You know a good driver when you see one. How many drivers could have taken this AMC Matador to victory TWICE at Darlington in the mid 70's. Bobby Allison sure did.

Bobby won the most races in the most different makes of cars. Which basically says he can win with anything. This is why he's my favorite of all time. His son Davey's life was cut way too short because he was my next favorite.

I have plaques for Davey Allison and Allan Kulwicki, 1993 was a tough year for Nascar.
