2018 Track Schedule

My 2018 Events are starting to lock in.

So far I'm doing:

1) Grattan with 3BallsRacing Sat, May 26th
2) Mid Ohio with Auto Interests, Tue, Jun 5th

I want to do at least 2 more. Gingerman and Mid Ohio again. Will see how the season shapes up.

What are you guys planning this season?

I try to go to weekend events to make the drive to the track worth it. I have only locked in one date so far:

May 19th & 20th at Carolina Motorsports Park with NASA Southeast

I will probably go back down to Sebring in June with NASA Florida for a weekend and will go back to Carolina Motorsports Park in mid-October for the Carolina's Regional Mustang Club event. They don't have the dates and registration open yet for the Mustang Club event, but I won admission to this year's event last year in a drawing. I don't want to miss out on a free track weekend.

I will try and find something in September to get in 8 days this year.

Did you say 8 days! That's twice as many as I'm planning!

Have fun everyone, and be safe. Let's show them what the old S197 ponies can do!

I am fairly new to the track and have done 4 days each of the last two years. I planned on doing a couple more last season, but work kept getting in the way. It has been recommended by a couple instructors that I get to the track more often so that I don't forget half of what I have learned in between events.

Nice looking schedules guys! Yeah, more track time the more you retain. This is my 5th year of tracking my car, but I still learn something new every time I go out. Never ending driver mod which is good.

I hope you guys have a safe and fun season in 2018. I have to swap brake lines after popping one of my SS lines at Mid Ohio last year. I'm also replacing rear calipers due to some fluid leaks through the piston seal, and replacing all the rotors.

How long did your ss brake lines hold up and did they show any signs before blowing? I have the Steed ss lines on my car for about 3 years now and was wondering if I should worry.

I had Russel SS lines for 2.5 years and one blew with no prior signs of fatigue. It blew right as it mates with the hard line, but it was definitely not expected.

Going with Ford Racing Boss 302 low expansion lines next. Keep an eye on yours. I think it's a rare failure, but it would end your car at the end of a main straight on any fast track...

If you haven't already, check out SCCA Track Night in America for any events near you; it is a relatively easy and low cost way to get on track:

https://www.tracknightinamerica.com/

It is still too cold here in Massachusetts to be scheduling track days yet, but I do hope to get out on track again in 2018; since I missed the entire 2017 season.

It would be great to have a thread where we can find all the track schedules, since they can be a little hard to find . . .

Cold and snowy here in Michigan too. I checked out the site, and didn't find anything near me so far. I will keep looking. Thanks for sharing the link

My plans have changes a bit, but 3 events are locked in by the end of June:

1) Grattan with 3BallsRacing Sat, May 26th
2) Mid Ohio with Auto Interests, Tue, Jun 5th
3) Mid Ohio with 3BallsRacing Wed, June 13.

I hope to hit another 2 events in August/Sep.

Biggest challenge based on last year will be keeping up with maintenance. After last year's brake issues I had I'm getting ready to drop $500 in rotors, brake lines, rear calipers and fluid.

At some point I'll need to rebuild the front calipers also, I'm hoping they last till the end of this season.
