2009 Grand-Am Test Days at Daytona
The Grand-Am Koni Sports Car Challenge has its first 2009 event this weekend with the Test Days at Daytona January 3-5.
There are several significant changes for 2009, including a new vehicle in the GS class. Ian James and Tom Nastasi, who won the 2006 Daytona 200 in a Mustang FR500C, will be testing Blackforest's Dodge Challenger.
Jack Roush Jr., Ray Mason and Hugh Plumb have left Rehagen Racing to form Horsepower Ranch and will campaign two Mustangs--#60 and #61. Rehagen will have four Mustangs in Florida--#52, #57, #58 and #59. Nine of the 27 cars entered in the GS class are Mustangs, including CA Sport's #68 "Ford Mustang Cobra". I don't know if it's a 2003-2004 SVT Cobra or a 2007-2009 Shelby GT500. I guess we'll see!
