Whats wrong with my paint?!
In two places that I've found on my car I have this flaking, peeling thing going on with my paint. I really don't know how else to explain it, so take a look at the pic and tell me what you think... Clear coat failure?
Well, based on what I know of the car's history, it was in a fender bender on the front right corner, and the front right fender is the only place I'm seeing this paint flaw (it's in one more spot on the fender too).
Guess I'm gonna have to get the fender painted! Anybody know what something like this should run? Can they just wetsand and reshoot the clear or does it need to be totally repainted blended halfway across the hood/down the door sort of thing?

Haha Don't worry. I'm just guessing whatever body shop in Florida where the car came from just didn't do a steller job repainting it. The fender is 100% straight, so they fixed whatever the damage was perfect, just didn't paint it as well as they should've apparently.
If it is just the clear, it will probably run a few hundred dollars. To do it the right way, they should remove the disassemble the fender, they will sand, scuff the surrounding area and shoot the clear then reassemble.
Before you pick an auto body shop to do the repair... check it out first.
If it looks like a thrid world hell hole, that is probably the quality of their work.
Check with the city, town or county to see if it is a licensed auto body repair shop. There are a lot of illegal auto body shops tucked away in auto repair complexes.. I am a firefighter and a member of my community's Code Enforcement team... we have shut down a few.
You want a shop that has a spray booth.
Ask for customer recommendations.
It's your baby.. you want the repair done right!
