What is the proper way to store tires?

I just put my car away for the winter. I removed the summer tires and put on my winter tires. I moved my summer tires into the house where they are stacked ontop of each other. Is this the best way to store them? I will be polishing the rims throughout the winter so it is easier if I store them this way.
Also, I removed the battery from the car and put it on a shelf in the garage. The garage is not heated. I need to put it back in the car in January for it's trip to the body shop. Do I need to put a trickle charger on it? Will the battery still be good enough to start the car 6 weeks from now?

Tires I'm not sure on, but I can't see any major issues with the way you have them now...The battery will be ok as long as it has a charge, if for some reason it would lose its charge it will freeze and ruin the battery, had it happen to me. I would guess it should be good to go in 6 weeks.IMO

Stacking the tires is the proper method, you did right there. When storing a battery it is definitely recommended to connect a trickle charger. On the shelf is good also, just make sure it is in a well ventilated area.

My recomendation would be a Battery Tender if you can find one. Most motorcycle shops carry them about $40.00. It maintains the battery with a charge and then draws a load then charges it up again.I use it on my bike and my lawn mower.Never a dead battery.
