I was hoping not. Like I said the paint looks great when your close up, no marks or anything and the debris is gone. I think I am going to order tha Zaino's kit tonight.

 

Using the right eqipment, sandpaper and the right coumpounds a wet sanded and buffed car could look as good as show quality, all show cars are sanded and buffed. You just got to know the limits of the products you are using and how much material is on the car. if the orange peel is not really bad you might just buff the car without wet sanding.

 

I appreciate all the feedback! I'm shying away from having this done, well, to have it done right. It sounds like I'm asking for trouble and I honestly will probably never enter into any car show. I just like the look, which probably would not be justified by the cost, especially since I would have more clear coat put on. I definitely would not attempt something like this on my own. A lof of misinformation about wet sanding here. I wouldnt recommend this as a do-it-yourself job. It should be left to professionals. If done right, it will remove the majority of the orange peel and leave a nearly perfect finish. There really is a art to doing it right, so find a GOOD shop. I have one around me that I have dealt with and might have them wetsand the car to fix the orange peeling.

 

Well I am a detailer and the only time we use wetsanding is to get out really bad scratches that won't buff out. Although on show cars you wet sand them to get that perfect shine. And the swirls are not created by wet sanding itself, they are due to poor buffing after wet sanding. It is a skill to be learned and a useful one at that. My $.02.

Pick up the Zaino kit. It will take you most of a day to perform all the steps, but you will be VERY impressed with the results. Even on a brand new car.
And it's not as "dangerous" as wet sanding.

Wet sanding a car is a perfectly acceptable way to make paint look better. Unfortunatly on new cars, the mat`l isn`t thick enough and you will sand through it. If you want a show quality paint job, get it reshot.

 

Zaino will not remove orange peel.
