With black you need to get a leaf blower... I'm not joking. You'll see every minor imperfection including (under the right light), little scratches from your towels. Use the leaf blower to dry your car. It's the quickest way (to heck w/ your neighbors), and best for your paint. It also gets all the water out of the mirror housings and out from around the headlights, grill, etc...
And it's best to park in the shade, yes.

I never thought of that ... but it sounds good. I recently parted with my black stang and it is not the easiest to take care of the paint. It does look great and it is possible to have it last a long time. I would use only the best material and like John said, check out the Zaino's website for a large amount of tips and tricks of the trade.
Good luck and post pics when you can !

Check out Autopia.org, for their detailing section. There is alot of discussion about products, and processes.
People talk about their experience and hints with products like Zaino ( and these do not vary much from Zaino's instructions), and Klasse, and other products.
I used Klasse, and the "WOWO" method on that forum. It worked real well. But you have to have alot of time and alot of patience to wait for curing between coats. Zaino's quick drying agent, which can used cuts down on the waiting time.
And there are other protocols people talk about using pinnacle, poorboy's and the like.

liquid wax and paste wax do the same job. The only reason they make the 2 is liquid wax is normally applied using a machine and paste is applied by hand.
Also, a useless fact...go out and buy 1 of each. The paste will always last longer because people tend to waste more when it is a liquid. I only use paste on my car.
